Mega Man War Mission is a first-person shooter video game developed and published by Capcom. It is the first title of the Mega Man War Mission series of games. It was originally released in December 15, 2011 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows.
War Mission takes place during the 22nd century in a world where humanity and artificial intelligence co-exist together. Human applicants can partner with A.I.s who inhabit robotic shells called "Serial Numbers". The game follows a rookie human officer named Connor Light and his mechanical partner SN-X as they foil a series of terrorist attacks instigated by the "Red Alert" organization. War Mission is a platforming first person shooter in which the player controls SN-X.
War Mission was created amidst the rise of online multiplayer games. According to producer Ben Judd, the development team wanted War Mission to identify specifically with younger gamers by writing the theme of man and machine. War Mission received positive reviews from critics. The game was followed by a number of sequels and spin-off titles, as well as other media.
