As most of us know, back in 1994, Sega was faced with a situation, of picking between Virtua Fighter and Eternal Champions. in the end, they axed the latter. now imagine. what if they axed the former instead.

  • 1 January 1995: Takara release Battle Arena Toshinden for the PlayStation. it is a 3D weapon based fighting game co-developed by Tamsoft and Capcom.
  • 23 January 1995: the 1st episode of the 3rd season of Voltron is aired. it is based on Lightspeed Electroid Albegas and is called Gladiator Hero Voltron.
  • 23 February 1995: Sega release Sister Sonic for the Sega Mega-CD. it is a localized release of Popful Mail.
  • Early 1995: Both branches of Sega eventually agree to axe Virtua Fighter in favor of Eternal Champions.
  • Early-To Mid 1995: Yu Suzuki and several other officials at Sega resign from the company in protest(all however have eventually returned to work for Sega with the passage of time). causing several games such as Virtua Fighter 3 and Virtua Cop 2 to be either cancelled or put on hold.
