Hey, y'all. Flippy2K here, and today I am here to remind you that from December 1st, 2025, you can pick which nominees for the the award categories for GIWA 2025! Users have until December 20th to suggest which nominees you want to put to the chosen category, do not hesitate to comment down your suggestions below, for all opinions are welcome (unless they are rude and unbecoming).
In case you aren't sure what the categories are, here is the list of confirmed nomination categories that will be appearing in GIWA 2025:
- Writer of the Year
- Breakout Writer of the Year
- Legacy Writer of the Year
- Game Idea of the Year
- Fighting Game Idea of the Year
- Racing Game Idea of the Year
- Beat-em-Up/Hack-and-Slash Game Idea of the Year
- RPG Idea of the Year
- Shooter Idea of the Year
- Platformer Idea of the Year
- Sports Game Idea of the Year
- Original Game Idea of the Year
- Fanmade Game Idea of the Year
- Crossover Idea of the Year
- Sequel Idea of the Year
- Game Ideas Wiki Classic Game Idea of the Year
- Game Idea Box Art/Game Title of the Year
Here are the rules about GIWA 2025 so that you are clear about choosing nominees:
- All game ideas made before December 20th, 2025 are qualified to enter. All game ideas made afterwards will not be able to enter as a nomination for GIWA 2025 but will be eligible to be selected for next year's GIWA.
- All game idea nominations must have the matching category to enter into one of the category award sections. For example: Capcom vs. SNK 3: Battle of the Millennium 2022 has the "Fighting" category in its page so it can be selected for "Fighting Game Idea of the Year".
- All game idea nominations must have at least one major or substantial edit from this year or last year. Pages that haven't been edited since 2024 cannot qualify for the main categories, but may still qualify for the "Game Ideas Wiki Classic Game Idea of the Year" award.
- If your game idea does not have the category in its page whilst you nominate it for that specific award, feel free to add that category to your article or else it is unable to be selected.
- It isn't necessary for your game idea to have a VG template in its page, whether you use it to make your game idea look good is up to you.
- It is, however, a necessity for your game idea to be as presentable and detailed as can be. If it looks like it is half-finished, lacks polish or is otherwise not detailed enough, then the game idea cannot be nominated.
- Regarding the "Game Idea Wiki Classic Game Idea of the Year" award, games posted in the wiki in 2024 or older can qualify for this award.
- Regarding the "Legacy Writer of the Year" awards, users who have made at least 10 articles and have joined the wiki for at least 1-2 years can qualify for this award.
- NEW RULE: AI-generated content will not be eligible for nomination in any of the categories presented. Each entry must be made by yourself, without any help from machine learning.
