The gameplay of Rise of the Gladiators is similar to Hack and Slash games by Capcom such as Devil May Cry and Onimusha.

It has been 5 years since the Galactic Empire has collapsed, and the rebels have been able to keep the galaxy in peace. However, the former chief scientist of the Empire, Edward Bilstein has formed his own successor regime to restore the rule of the Sith.
