"After all these years, I forgot what fear felt like.
Then fear found me."
~Jill Valentine
"Saved by a Redfield, just like old times.
I'm coming, Jill."
~Claire Redfield
Resident Evil: Desolation is a 2017 Psychological-Survival Horror game developed and published by Capcom. It was formally announced-alongside Resident Evil: Revelations 3-during Capcom's TGS 2016 conference as part of the Resident Evil 20th Anniversary celebration. It is a canonical side-story in the Resident Evil universe following the whereabouts of Claire Redfield (TerraSave) and Jill Valentine (B.S.A.A.) during the events of Resident Evil 6 and the first Resident Evil title to feature the two characters, picking up where Revelations 2 left off. It also reveals the aftermath of Jill's ordeal in Resident Evil 5 where she served as Albert Wesker's test subject for Uroboros during her elongated absence. Ada Wong is additionally featured along with 2 new characters in side campaigns, the former of whom appears in the main story alongside Claire and Jill, marking the first ever canon meeting between all 3 series lead females.
The game was developed from the ground-up using photorealistic graphics via Capcom's brand-new RE Engine. Directed by Resident Evil: Revelations 2 director, Yasuhiro Ampo and Silent Hill 2 director, Masashi Tsuboyama (formerly of Team Silent), it features unique elements never-before-seen in a Resident Evil title, taking on the moniker of a Psychological-Survival Horror game akin to Konami's Silent Hill franchise. It also lends players the choice of panoramic "fixed" camera angles from classic games or the over-the-shoulder view of the more recent entries (Resident Evil 4-onwards). A special third person VR mode-utilizing 3D cinematic visuals-for the PlayStation VR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift headsets is also available.
It was released on August 1, 2017 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Synopsis[]
After launching an attack on a Panama cruise ship containing Uroboros survivors during a TerraSave rescue mission, Alex Wesker, reborn through Barry Burton's daughter, Natalia kidnaps Jill Valentine from the B.S.A.A. testing facility where she's undergoing treatment for wounds suffered by her brother years ago. Jill and Claire soon wind up on opposite ends of the top-secret New Umbrella Research Facility on Zheabus Island where they find themselves in the middle of a deadly experiment along with the ship survivors: Alex Wesker's T-Incubo (latin for "Nightmare") Virus, created from mixing the T-Veronica virus with deadly hallucinogens coursing through the facility walls.
They'll soon experience fear like never before as they fight for survival and uncover hidden secrets. Perhaps there's more to the deadly experiments lurking inside this horrific laboratory than we ever thought possible...
Gameplay[]
Resident Evil: Desolation is a fill-in-the-blank side-story game explaining the whereabouts of Claire Redfield and Jill Valentine during the events of Resident Evil 6. It is, in many ways, a reimagining of the Survival Horror themes of Resident Evil, offering a unique perspective for the franchise. It borrows many queues from the Silent Hill games, such as foggy environments (due to hallucinogenic agents inside the laboratory), darkened, asylum-like hallways and rooms with limited light source, and psychologically-profiling you as you play, altering in-game elements for different choices and actions, thus becoming more of a Psychological Survival-Horror game.
Many of the core Resident Evil elements return, such as exploration, combat, item management, limited ammo and puzzles, but the traps and laboratory halls/rooms are so cleverly designed that solving one puzzle often leads right into another, potentially setting off a contraption in the process. For instance, facing an unpredictable wave of smoke-screened monsters, both real and hallucinatory alike as a result of the various hallucinogenic aerosols:
- Toxin A: A red, smokescreening toxin. Can create hallucinatory monsters as well as covet real ones in the area.
- Psychosis Toxin: A white abstract mist. Can sometimes create an outline of zombie/monster bodies.
- Green House Toxin: A more potent version of the Psychosis Toxin. It is a green gas that creates illusions of zombie-like faces in the background, making monster attacks unpredictable.
- Nightmare Toxin: A light blue gas that can actually transform the environment around you into a nightmarish dystopia. It can often be deactivated via hidden valve, allowing the area(s) in question to revert to real time.
During this time, it is commonplace for each character to run into a series of vanishing illusionary monsters before a real-or similarly hallucinatory-B.O.W. will appear and attack completely at random. Unlike past games, there are multiple ways to solve each puzzle, each method having different consequences for both the current and subsequent character's campaign. Characters can also perform the more recent series-renowned melee strikes to combat foes, either using a standard kick or a charged roundhouse kick from the Revelations series, but hallucinogenic monsters (Phantasm) will dissipate and be absorbed into the character on impact, limiting its resourcefulness in order to add a sense of immersion and powerlessness to the game's gritty atmosphere. Later in the game, Claire can pick up a new sniper rifle (PGSA) to combat this. It is equipped with a thermal scope that can decipher real enemies from hallucinatory ones by highlighting heart beats (or lack thereof).
New to the game are conditional health mechanics. The character's perception is altered in response to hallucinogenic stimuli while navigating through each area, i.e.: the layout of hallways, rooms and monster designs are similarly affected differently depending on the choices made due to the presence of hallucinogens, including distortions within said hallways/rooms such as psychedelic windy halls. They may affect the character in other ways, too, such as the presence of blurred vision, screeching, echos, demonic voices ringing inside the character's head, audible heart beats accompanied by controller vibrations, baby laughter and apparitions. These effects reflect the psychological mind games Alex Wesker plays on each character throughout the course of the game. New items, such as medicines, are also implemented as a counter measure as the character will occasionally experience gradual heart attacks and seizures linked to the player's heart rate. Each character is also equipped with a heart rate monitor courtesy of Natalex.
While in the "seizure" phase, the character will see a bleed-out effect encompassing the player's screen, causing all surrounding environments and enemies to be increasingly blurred out until your heart rate flatlines.
Resident Evil: Desolation also introduces hallucinogenic cutscenes for the first time in franchise history. While passing certain hallways or entering select rooms, a hallucination-fueled cutscene depicting horrific visions through the eyes of the character will be triggered. These include, but are not limited to: evil telekinetic killer dolls hovering off the ground to a horrific nursery rhyme recital from a back-turned demon girl before turning around and crawling towards you; Franz Kafka passage graffiti on the walls in an asylum-like dorm; a montage of a gurney, bloody surgical equipment and a mutant nurse swaying towards the camera; even random horrific apparitions of the Weskers, often capping off these cutscenes. The same areas can also trigger a different cutscene when accessed by the other character, leaving many different ending possibilities depending on the choices made.
Like Resident Evil 2, the player can assign an "A" solo campaign for either Jill or Claire followed by a "B" for the other, allowing for 4 different scenario possibilities (Jill A-Claire B being canon). Each campaign is prefaced with a hallucinogen-induced nightmare sequence that the character wakes up from and occurs concurrently. Each character finds themselves periodically being preyed upon by the Weskers (perceived or otherwise), Jill being followed by Albert and Claire being haunted by Alex (their respective 'captors' from previous games) who dons an increasingly demonic figure with each appearance as the story progresses. Whether these are real or perceived is a mystery within the game itself. Each campaign is intrinsically linked to each other, in many ways affecting the other character. For instance, tapes can be uncovered showing the events from the other character's campaign as they actually occurred in real time as well as other plot devices affecting the other's story, such as the presence of select items and puzzles. Items valuable to the other character's skillset, such as Jill's signature lock pick, can be obtained during each campaign.
Each solo "A" and "B" campaign is followed by a final "C" co-op campaign where both Jill and Claire travel together after meeting up. The co-op campaign adopts Resident Evil Zero's dual control system where the player can either control one character with the other controlled by the computer or both simultaneously as well as split them up. Splitting up is necessary to solve certain puzzles during the final "C" campaign. Both characters have their advantages and disadvantages over each other, i.e.: Jill can unlock secret doors/safes via her lockpick and Genesis scanner abilities, but can only hold eight items to Claire's ten. Claire is more resistant to panic attacks, but suffers more physical damage when attacked. Both characters also have differing counter techniques. For example, Jill is more resilient and can dodge incoming attacks (similar to Resident Evil 3/Revelations) while Claire can counter monster strikes with a takedown technique.

- Hot Pursuit: A free DLC prequel campaign. Play as Jill during her time as Bird Lady in Resident Evil 5, carrying out evil missions for Albert Wesker.
Characters[]
- Jill Valentine: B.S.A.A. field agent. Was being treated at a B.S.A.A. testing facility in Europe due to injuries/viruses suffered from her ordeal with Albert Wesker in Resident Evil 5, where she is believed to have suffered from severe PTSD and flashbacks of her captor. However, she's suddenly kidnapped by his "sister," Alex Wesker/Natalia's men, who raid the facility. She is taken to a secret facility in Rhysport, New Jersey harboring many dark secrets and deadly traps and experiments. Her plight with the Wesker family will soon come full circle as she's forced to relive her nightmare as their pawn while experiencing a new wave of horror.
- Claire Redfield: TerraSave agent, sister of B.S.A.A.'s Chris Redfield, who is out battling the C-Virus infection in China during the time of this game's events (Resident Evil 6). Her organization, TerraSave, helped stage an Uroboros survivor rescue attempt in Haiti, placing them on board a Panama cruise ship. However, their ship was attacked by a nerve gas agent waged by Alex Wesker. She was later taken to the new Umbrella Research Facility where her and her men will be part of a deadly experiment along with Jill involving a new state-of-the-art hallucinogenic virus.
- Alex Wesker/Natalia: Sister of the late Albert Wesker. Conducted experimentation on Sushestvovanie Island for the fear-based T-Phobos virus. She met her demise when she was killed by Claire in the same way Albert met his end by her brother, Chris years ago via RPG. However, after abducting and transferring her consciousness inside Barry Burton's 6-year-old daughter, Natalia Korda, Alex Wesker is now reborn through young Natalia and she plans to wage revenge-and a new layer of fear on the world.
- Barry Burton: Communicates with longtime B.S.A.A. and former S.T.A.R.S. colleague Jill Valentine over Skype during the Panama cruise-in response to her Revelations 2 e-mail-before the ship is attacked by Natalex. He is subsequently captured along with the remaining ship crew. After withstanding mutation from the T-Incubo Virus contamination (due to a non-matching blood type) at the secret Umbrella facility, he anxiously awaits the arrival of Jill and Claire, who promised to meet him. Little does he know the secret of his missing daughter, however.
- Ada Wong: After receiving a tip from Chet, Ada manages to track down the whereabouts of Alex's secret Umbrella-owned facility via her espionage skills. Believing Alex wasn't alone in her abduction of both Jill and Claire, she sets out to search the nightmarish facility on her own for a potential accomplice.
- Chet Allison*: Operative of B.S.A.A.'s Alpha Team following Piers' death in China. Survivor of the Raccoon City outbreak that occurred many years ago. Joins TerraSave security guard, Kyle Calahan in a navigation of downtown Rhysport in an attempt to stop the T-Incubo virus outbreak. Was Claire's secret caller at the good ending of Revelations 2 (revealed via Chris e-mail file during Jill's campaign).
- Tripp Haslem*: Former member of the disgraced FBC. Was involved in an affair with B.S.A.A.'s lead researcher, Lena Corvin and was integral to her capture after disclosing the whereabouts of her long lost sister via e-mail. Later transformed into the monstrous Lyca B.O.W.
- Mike Gibson*: The man pictured in the portrait in Jill's S.T.A.R.S. office during the Raccoon City incident, believed to be her (ex-)boyfriend. Former partner of Leon S. Kennedy in the R.P.D. who was reported M.I.A. following his disappearance during the t-Virus outbreak (appears in cutscenes via flashbacks).
- John Haggerton*: Acting President of the United States after Adam Benford's death in RE6.
- Alan Richter*: CEO of TerraSave.
- Joel Easton*: TerraSave member, and the only known male surviving member of the non-governmental bioterror support group.
- Kyle Calahan*: TerraSave security officer. Assists Chet Allison in fighting the viral infection in downtown Rhysport.
- Oliver Martin*: B.S.A.A. operative joining Calahan and Allison, later infected by an unknown Umbrella plant at the medical facility.
- Varuda*: A mysterious masked mercenary working for Umbrella. Her exact alias is unknown.
- Michelle Haggerton*: John Haggerton's daughter.
- Maria Haggerton*: President John Haggerton's wife being held hostage in Rhysport.
- Allie Haggerton*: Michelle's secret sister.

Enemies[]
Enemies come in two different forms: hallucinatory and physical. Hallucinogenic monsters will either appear behind or in front of the character and either vanish or attack when coming into contact with him/her. Attacking them head-on will cause them to be absorbed into the character on impact after dissipating.
Physical monsters also have multiple forms depending on your heart monitor or surrounding hallucinogenic agent. First, a base form (green health) and then appearing more horrific as your health depletes, growing an extra set of mutated appendages, deeper depressions in their body, etc.
Main[]
- Phantasm-Hallucinogenic monsters. They come in one of three forms: hallucinatory forms of attacking monsters, molded bodies made of dark mass or demonic (paranormal/illusionary) zombie girls.
- Zombies-T-Incubo-infected humans that mutated due to having a compatible Blood Type (B). They appear more horrific to hallucinogen-induced infectees of the virus, donning extra appendages and exposing cartilage and muscle tissue in grislier detail.
- Incubo-T-Incubo-mutated husk-like B.O.W.s engineered by Alex Wesker and the main line of B.O.W.s in the game. They have swollen, demon-like faces (as a nod to the mythical incubus creatures) with triangular depressions in both cheeks and their mouth encased in a webbing. They possess claws and an acid spray attack as their means of attack.
- Condemned-A pair of humanoid chrysalid variant monsters spliced together from their hip, forming a horrific hybrid. They have two mutant heads welded together by giant blob extensions, exposing many layers of their flesh.
- Cuj'o-A zombie dog in the form of a T-Incubo-mutated wolf. Name is a portmanteau of Cujo, the famous dog, and Incubo.
- Creeper-T-Incubo-mutated Lickers from previous games. They don extra appendages and large mandibles, similar to the Xenomorph. In addition to being able to crawl up and down walls and ceilings and having multiple forms of attack (leaping, swiping and biting their prey), they also spew out a deadly toxin that can poison the enemy.
- Manta-Parasitic scorpion B.O.W. engineered from Las Plagas.
- Necromongul-As the name implies, they are demonic ghoul-like monsters. They are purely situational monsters that appear in the unknown crevices and attempt to grab and drag you from underneath bathroom stalls or out of dark corners and hallways before attempting to devour you.
- Manne-kill-Alex's evil killer dolls stashed in various hidden enclosures of the nightmarish facility. They are mainly featured in Claire's Nightmare, but can be found in select portions of the actual research facility, often appearing at random.
- Pig Head-As the name suggests, they are mutated pig head monsters infected from the T-Incubo virus. They don mutated nostrils, jaws and ears and glowing, pupil-less eyes and are clad in a long, bloody trench coat.
- Helling: Airborne embryonic parasite B.O.W.[1]
- Eradicator: Human-controlled hosts to the Helling parasite. They have a much more outwardly-mutant appearance than their T-Incubo-infected (zombie) counterparts.[1]
- Molded: Creatures created by the Mold bacterium possessed by Umbrella rival, Tentsu.[2]
Sub-Bosses[]
- Cadavra-A bloodied skeletal corpse B.O.W. barring maggots in its exposed skull. It is, in many ways similar to the Xenomorph from Alien: Isolation in that it can't be killed and stalks the enemy around the lab at various intervals.
- Magdala-A giant wall-crawling leech B.O.W hanging from the ceiling. Dons multiple mutant, tentacle-like mandibles and tongue and a horrific Licker/Nemesis-like skull separating its agape mouth. (NOTE: this is more of a "situational" boss similar to the Alligator in Resident Evil 2).
- Deathala-A giant tentacled B.O.W. that feeds off a deadly compound, Ven Muse, given to him by Jill while completing her tests. As a result, she continually grows larger and larger.
- Baroness-A burning demon lady that, like Cadavra, also can't be killed when encountered in the main campaigns and stalks her prey, albeit through doorways instead of halls (in contrast to Cadavra). However, in the Ada bonus campaign, she reveals her "true" form and can then be defeated conventionally.
- Varuda: A masked Umbrella agent with supersoldier-like reflexes.
Bosses[]
- Manj'aro-A giant, Uroboros-spliced arachnid-hivemind B.O.W. which is, in fact, the manifestation of multiple human corpses horrifically spliced into a single monster with the virus. Contains multiple mutant humanoid heads and spinal chords welded onto its body and blobs of Uro mass separating each of its joints. Each of its 8 legs are conjoined by 2 mutant blob tentacles drenched in Uro mass.
- Ripper-T-Incubo Tyrant variant. Possesses a thick, skeletal exterior, needle-like spikes on both arms and a giant bone blade as a weapon.
- Lyca-A mutant werewolf B.O.W. donning an exposed ribcage encased in Uroboros mass and a Plaga heart. It sprung to life when Tripp Haslem (FBC member encountered in the "A" campaign who "has bad memories of this place") was injected with the DNA of the werewolf Jill encountered in Raccoon City shortly before the 1998 Spencer Mansion incident.
- Juggernaut: A giant, multi-layered, regenerative husk B.O.W. encountered by Jill and Claire.
- Enchantress: A bio-weapon bearing the appearance of a young, raven-haired, demonic zombie girl in a black dress. She is later revealed to be the new persona of Alex Wesker, and her second after Overseer.
- Mutant Oliver: A mutated Oliver Martin injected with a combination of the T-Phobos and C-Viruses and a Helling parasite.[1]
- Vishnu: A large crustacean/crab B.O.W. donning 4 mutated claw arms and 3 pincer tails welded together. Named after Vishnu, the multi-armed Hindu God from the Hindu scripture, Bhagavad Gita. NOTE: he is referenced in the main campaign via cryptic message on the wall, which reads "Now I have become death, the destroyer of worlds," supposedly referring to Alex/Enchantress.[1]
- Merc: Short for mercenary, code-name given to the mole sent to infiltrate the Rhysport treatment facility.[1]
- Hydra: A multi-headed B.O.W. created by Umbrella rival, Tentsu to safeguard their ship as a last resort. Named after the creature from Greek mythology-much like the Cerberus and Chimera before it-it has 9 distinct, severely mutated and disfigured, monster-like heads and exaggerated appendages.[2]
- Axel: A pickaxe-wielding mercenary. He has bandages all over his body and a half-sawed off mask covering only half of his crippled face.[3]
Plot[]
Game's Story Mode begins with either a Jill A/Claire B or Claire A/Jill B campaign followed by a co-op campaign where both are controlled at the same time. Ada's campaign can be unlocked after completing Story Mode and fills in the blanks. Additionally, two campaign expansions, Hijack, set before the main game and Devastation, set after the main campaign, will both be available as DLC some time after launch.
However, for storyline purposes, Jill A/Claire B is the canonical sequence.
Prologue[]
In June 2013, the B.S.A.A. opened a missing persons case following the sudden disappearance of Barry's daughter, Natalia. After a three-month investigation, she had reportedly been found by former B.S.A.A. operative, Jessica Sherawat in a tip from Alpha Team member, Chet Allison.
During this time, Barry's affiliate organization, TerraSave had received an anonymous tip that a group of Uroboros survivors was found in Haiti. Joining his fellow TerraSave ally, Claire in a rescue mission, he kept in contact with Jill via Skype, accepting her invitation to meet her in an e-mail correspondence upon returning while Natalia was placed in protective custody. However, the reception was lost as the ship was attacked with a nerve gas agent, incapacitating all on board. During this time, Jill was attacked in the B.S.A.A. testing facility by a masked Umbrella agent as the Skype feed went dead, incapacitating her with a syringe.
Episode 1: New Nightmare[]

Jill's Nightmare |
---|
Jill winds up in a dark, nightmarish vigil. She is haunted by horrific visions smothered in fog while a young girl's voice is heard reciting the "Ring Around the Rosy" nursery rhyme in the background. She eventually runs into a pack of druids gathered before a haunted forest. They begin reciting Franz Kafka passages when suddenly, a burning crescent moon incinerates them all.
After a blinding flash of light, Jill suddenly finds herself being carried away by a bloody waterfall after the intense heat causes the ground to crumble beneath her. Along the way, she runs into the mutilated corpses of Joseph Frost and Rachel Foley, two former colleagues who died on her watch. These are soon followed by horrific Incubo monsters who emerge from the surface. Jill evades the monsters, but is shocked to see a B.S.A.A. helicopter falling from the sky. Jill evades the chopper and swims to safety, now making her way back on foot. As soon as the chopper lands, the bloody current suddenly transforms into lava, where none other than Albert Wesker, in his Uroboros form, emerges from the giant impact. Wesker grabs and dislodges two giant boulders from a cavern wall using his mutated arms. Jill races inside the cave as the two boulders begin chasing after her, narrowly escaping being smothered. Finding herself in a dark tomb, Jill once again begins running for her life as she's pursued by Nemesis. Escaping via tunnel, Jill enters a monastery which, upon further navigation, begins to suspiciously resemble the interior of the Spencer Mansion. A pair of mutated wolves, know as Cuj'o, chase her into a dining room. Narrowly outrunning them, Jill barricades herself in the dining room. She's horrified when she discovers the corpses of Chris Redfield, Barry Burton, Sheva Alomar and Josh Stone in the seats surrounding the table. Discovering a pickaxe and an ominous message "The Key To Your Freedom" on the wall, Jill begins digging into the wall, eventually finding the horrific Overseer eye lurking on the other side. Jill stumbles when suddenly, the room begins shaking. Losing her balance, Jill falls back first onto the table when suddenly, a pair of armrests open up, trapping her onto the table bed. Trying to break free, a set of spikes opens up, impaling her through her chest. The ceiling then begins to slide open in the crumbling dining room as the spiked table begins elevating her. Upon reaching the top floor, the punctured Jill, losing consciousness after suffering massive blood loss, finds herself in a reincarnation of the top floor of the infamous Spencer Estate where she and her partner, Chris had her fated encounter with Albert Wesker many years ago. In an ironic twist of fate, she finds herself surrounded by Albert Wesker and a masked woman donning her familiar Bird Woman garb she wore while under his control. After Albert makes a snarling remark of a "Reverse Jill Sandwich," the woman unmasks herself as none other than his sister, Alex. Donning a stake in hand, Alex "decapitates" Jill as she lets out a dying scream. |
Jill's Story |
---|
After waking up in a holding room from a horrific nightmare, Jill finds herself in captivity as she's bound to a stretcher. Things immediately turn from bad to worse, however, as she's soon greeted by none other than her former captor, Albert Wesker, who interrogates Jill, preparing to once again brainwash her via a syringe labeled "Omega" as she desperately tries to escape.
As Wesker approaches Jill's stretcher, syringe in hand, Jill desperately tries to break free off the restraints binding her arms. Wesker closes in on Jill, preparing to brainwash her once again. Seeing what was about to happen, Jill miraculously breaks free of her arm restraints and instead injects a syringe laying beside her into Wesker's brain. A frantic Jill desperately gets up and tries to escape. However, a regurgitating Wesker begins draining power from the facility as he begins to mutate. Jill could do nothing but watch as a newly-mutated Wesker begins peering out of the dark corner of the room after running past her with his superhuman speed, appearing more terrifying than ever before. After continually taunting and preying on Jill in an increasingly sinister voice, a mutant hand reaches out of the dark and grabs her by the throat. Jill begins seeing flashbacks as he chokes her against the wall. In an act of desperation, a suffocating Jill slowly reaches across and presses a nearby switch on the wall, dumping a vat of corrosive acid on her former captor. Seeing an escape route seemingly in hand, Jill again tries to escape, but is once again met with a set of disturbances as a series of scary zombie girl apparitions fly in her face, illuminated by the flickering lights. However, nothing could prepare her for what came next: a giant ghoul-like B.O.W., Necromongul, which starts chasing her out of the dark corner. Jill frantically turns around and starts running from its agape mouth as it tries to swallow her whole, but runs straight back into a mangled Wesker, who trips her up with his graphically-mutilated hand. With death approaching her from both directions, a frantic Jill desperately kicks herself out of a now pustled-Wesker's grip and quickly escapes out the door. Jill makes her way into a long hallway, which soon sets itself in a darkened loop. Grabbing a nearby flashlight, Jill is met with a number of disturbing sights in the form of demonic hallucinogen-based imagery as she proceeds down the endless hall. Jill eventually finds the woman "following" her at the end of the hall clad in her former Bird Lady attire. However, as she approaches her, Jill finds herself heading down a constantly-stretching hallway as the pair of double doors gets further and further away from her, blanketing her in a red lighting effect as the lights suddenly change color. The red lights eventually dim, giving Jill another terrifying mug shot as a close-up of her signature mask flashes at Jill before vanishing. The mysterious masked woman who kidnapped her from the B.S.A.A. testing facility suddenly appears at the end of the hall where she originally saw Bird Lady as the lights resurface, during which time, the endless hallway loop reverts to its original form. A now-deeply paranoid Jill runs after her, only to be attacked by a Necromongul-presumably the one she encountered earlier-who goes bursting out of a trap door in the wall beside her. Jill fights and eventually seals the Necromongul shut only to then find stick figures scattered about when she turns around, each w/doll figure (Mannekill) remnants pierced through them. Jill encounters more scary flashing apparitions (Phantasm)-this time, in the form of ghost girls-and voices around the stick figures as she navigates down the hall. Jill eventually sees Natalia, Barry's daughter who she mentioned in her e-mail at the end of the hall only for a terrifying zombie/demon girl to appear over her before disappearing. The girl then taunts Jill over the PA, identifying herself as Enchantress.
A pair of hallway doors opens up behind Jill as swarms of Incubo bioweapons start chasing her down the other end of the hall. Her terror is exacerbated, however, as a pair of double doors open in front of Jill, letting out a pack of Creepers. An unarmed Jill is forced to stand guard as the agile Creepers chase her down the congested hall into the path of the lumbering Incubo, having only her melee to defend herself. Using her wits, Jill evades both sets of monsters as enters the X-Ray room on the west wing of the A block very much resembling a dilapidated steel mill. After picking up an axe pick from a cabinet, Jill uncovers a letter noting "X Marks the Spot." Jill goes to turn the power switch to half power in accordance with the note's instructions, causing flickering lights in exchange for a secret passageway being marked with a giant red X. Jill approaches the marked wall, but encounters tons of horrific apparitions of Incubo approaching her from out of nowhere in doing so before encountering a real one and destroying it with her axe. After smashing through the marked wall, Jill enters a room very much resembling a haunted execution chamber when she uncovers a security tape on the interrogation table and begins playing it from a CCTV monitor. A pair of scientists are viciously assaulted by a blurred out woman in the cryo lab using some kind of elemental powers. As the tape elapses, Jill sees a reflection of Wesker standing beside her in the glass, but turns around and is shocked to find the room empty. Jill proceeds through a trap door in the wall leading straight into a rusty bathroom. Evading both wall-crawling Creepers and a near-invisible Necromongul creeping out of a bathtub, Jill finds a key in the far corner and attempts to escape when Enchantress' disturbing demonic girl face appears in the ventilation system behind her. After the creature disappears, Jill unlocks the vent and proceeds through the crawl space leading straight into the Maze of Light puzzle. Evading horrific creatures spawning from a hallucinogenic gas leak from the ceiling pipeline-and buried in a hazeous red fog-Jill restores resuscitating power from the facility after moving 4 corner supercomputer desktops into a single center hub. Using her looted Skeleton Key, Jill tries to enter the A2 dormitory, but falls off her feet when she's met with the disturbing site of Enchantress through the peephole. Assuring Jill "there's nothing to fear but fear itself," the hallway becomes long, windy and distorted as the Dormitory vanishes in a transformative Nightmare Toxin loop. Along the way, she's haunted by terrible screeching and sinister laughter along with apparitions of Albert Wesker and scary Manne-kill dolls peeping out of corners and side doors. By the time she reaches the end of the loop, it transforms into a reincarnation of the Spencer Mansion where she encounters a pair of zombie dogs bursting through the windows much like it happened in the real mansion many years ago, albeit in wolf form this time. Jill flees and runs into a mysterious man, who shoots and kills the Cujo's via shotgun as she is about to be devoured. Helping Jill back to her feet, he introduces himself as Tripp Haslem, who warns "I have bad memories of this place" before leaving. As he departs, Jill finds a piano at the very end of the hall. She begins playing the familiar Moonight Sanata piece, causing the Spencer Mansion hallucinations to end. Winding up back at the end of hall A2, Jill proceeds through the darkened asylum-like halls of floor A3 after obtaining her signature lockpick via the deadly Inferno Room puzzle. With only her flashlight to guide her, she's haunted by hallucinogenic monsters that approach her from behind and disappear on a whim, including a horrific werewolf before running into live Manta, zombies and Necromongul creeping around every corner unexpectedly. Jill continues into the file storage room where she's once again faced with hallucinogenic monsters and is once again rescued by Tripp just as she is about to be attacked by an actual zombie. He once again warns Jill of the dangers of the laboratory. Looking for clues to open the nearby safe, Jill opens file cabinets unlocking the code via circular tabs. A quick scan of the cabinet and wall via Genesis Scanner reveals the stunning truth that this was the FBC's base of operations in collusion with TRICELL and Tripp was originally a member of the disgraced agency. Jill continues searching, and under the "W" tab, finds an updated Wesker Children file detailing Wesker's top-secret pre-S.T.A.R.S. project entitled "The Meta Twins". Contained in the file was a woman dubbed only L. Birkin and a second, redacted agent, leading to her next clue. After following a walking apparition out the door, Jill completes a series of puzzles starting with a Manne-kill lying on a chair in the hallway. Proceeding through the Boiler Room via code, ventilation system, Dormitory (where she completes the terrifying Mirror Maze puzzle following a chilling encounter with a demon lady Phantasm watching the TV as soon as she enters), Examining and Security Rooms, Jill loads a recovered e-mail file to Ada on one of the two laptops after uncovering the passcode. It begins playing an ominous Natalex vlog attachment set to Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven." Noting its referencing the name "Lenore," Jill continue her search. She uncovers live CCTV footage of a tall, scantily-clad, raven-haired woman after obtaining the fuse. She's shown marching down the hallway in a sensual navy blue battlesuit outfit donning laced side leggings and a bikini undergarment with decaying TRICELL researcher corpses scattered about. The feed goes dead as soon as she turns to face the camera, reveling her in mystery. Jill turns around and finds Chris in a hidden part of the facility on one of the monitor screens across the room and his sister, Claire on the feed to its right. However, her amusement is short-lived when a horrific Tyrant variant is seen marching down an unknown part of the facility on the monitor screen beside it. After backtracking through the A1 area, Jill uncovers additional footage in the Computer Lab via disc of the mysterious woman being held hostage by a human Alex Wesker in a gaseous room. Somewhere in the background, a black-coated man, largely unseen, watches. After rewinding the tape several times, Jill zooms in and catches a silhouetted, blurry shot of a man resembling none other than Albert Wesker himself. A shocked Jill utters "no, it can't be.... he's back." Jill nonetheless continues, eventually uncovering an e-mail file between Tripp and herself, though the recipient's name is redacted. After walking past glitched-out archive footage on the wall LED monitor of the mysterious woman totting a UMP, Jill finds a briefcase containing the very same UMP along with SMG ammo in a shocking twist of fate and a cassette tape hanging from a string behind it. Jill snatches the tape and proceeds down the hall and finds a storage vault. Marked with "The Truth Shall Set You Free" in bloody graffiti, Jill finds ammo boxes, herbs, a keycard and tape recorder. Jill places the cassette tape inside the recorder and begins playing a recording of a B.S.A.A. woman vowing to find her sister. Identifying the woman as Lena, the woman's voice on the tape is soon replaced by evil laughter from a demonic Dark Natalia, who hijacks the facility controls after a hideous taunting. Experiencing a power outage and A Toxin leak, Jill navigates into the nearby Storage Room where she's faced with the disturbing Ventriloquist Trap. Fighting her way through smokescreened doll head cutoffs swinging in her face and Pig Heads appearing from out of nowhere, Jill reaches a password-protected door. Using the Security Scanner, Jill finds the passcode "666," number of the Devil engraved on the wall (including an upside-down 6, marked in purple). Jill enters the code, but is met by none other than the Tyrant she witnessed earlier on security cams, codenamed Ripper, who rips the door clear off its hinges with its gigantic bone blade after unlocking. Jill exposes of the Ripper as it stalks her throughout the foggy, booby-trapped Storage Room and proceeds into hall A4, but the dislodged door allows the Toxin A gas to follow her. Along the way, she runs into Chris, who warns Jill that Albert is, in fact alive. The two agree to split up, once again letting Chris track him down while Jill tries to find a way to shut off the pipes. Jill finds and uses a valve to stop the virus pipe leak, but stumbles upon Chris, who turns around and mutates into the Cadavra corpse monster, revealing him to be a hallucination. The monster chases her through a darkened bathroom in a jumpscare-filled ambush which sees a series of vanishing monsters-an Incubo, Necromongul, Pig Head and ceiling Creeper-appear out of stalls in each direction after casting shadows before a trio of biting fangs leads her right into the ambush of 3 Cuj'os, who slowly peer out of the dark. The dogs chase Jill back into the path of Cadavra, but Jill incinerates them both by shooting the boiler. Narrowly escaping the blast, Jill continues to search for clues, eventually finding a bloodied picture of her long lost boyfriend, Mike Gibson, believed to be dead for years. She's shocked when he finds none other than his corpse lying on the gurney right beside her, which mutates into the Cadavra creature she believed to have killed earlier. Jill escapes back into the hallway and encounters Tripp. Cursing him for his shady deeds-and the improper relationship he had with Lena which led to her dismissal from B.S.A.A. and capture, identifying her as Lena Corvin-she's once again stunned when a viral gas causes him to mutate into Lyca, a werewolf much like the one she encountered in the Raccoon City campus sting operation she held many years ago. Jill kills Lyca, but once again finds herself being ambushed by the reemerging Cadavra, who chases her down the stairwell leading into the lower floor. The staircase is encased in a caged enclosure on all sides with horrific Condemned trying to break through. As she reaches the bottom floor, Jill follows a haunting trail of lightning flashes casting spine-chilling shadows and imagery in the halls-including Wesker and Enchantress, an ominous black cat, and enemies attacking and vanishing in unpredictable waves after appearing-which leads her straight into a devastated office. With the lightning holograms continuing to follow her behind every eerie, unpredictable trap awaiting her inside, Jill manages to restore the power. However, she is met by the sudden appearance of her captor-the mysterious masked woman-via monitor feed. Jill immediately begins a witch hunt, believing it to be Lena. With a chrysalis mold now surrounding the walls, Jill endures a pattern of monster corpses appearing in and breaking out of walls before eventually having to outrun a C-Virus blob chasing and trying to devour her through and down hallways, eventually growing a pair of chrysalid tentacles along the way. Narrowly evading the monster after sealing herself inside a vault, Jill desperately tries to turn on the generator as it slowly bleeds through the walls in an attempt to eat her. Having to push the right combination of buttons and switches, Jill activates the boiler from the control panel and thereby incinerating the monster and all traces of the chrysalis mold throughout the facility. Making her way back into the office hallway, Jill searches the premise with her gun cocked, eventually coming across a video feed of a man being physically dissected by the masked woman attacker before running into her. Jill demands the woman reveal herself, holding her at gunpoint. She slowly begins to unmask when suddenly, a red sandstorm-like gas peers through the hallway just as she's about to reveal her identity. Jill is forced to continue her search for leads as the masked woman disappears, encountering shrouded monsters along the way. After eventually finding a furnace containing the substance, Jill dismantles the gas. Upon exiting back out into the bottom floor hall, Jill seemingly finds a topless mannequin of herself, laying bare chest-first against a wall in her old S.T.A.R.S. uniform. However, Jill turns the mannequin around after slowly approaching it, discovering it to be a Jessica mannequin dressed in her old attire, her face partially-carved off and blood splatters covering her bare breasts. She then enters a series of horrific transforming hallways, placing her in unique and constant, spine-chilling dangers, ending with the stalking Baroness, who eventually bursts through the wall encased in flame before chasing Jill into the cryo lab. Along the way, she runs into various hallucinations of Albert Wesker. Searching for more clues, she enters a special area, labeled the Surrogation Hall where she encounters a man's experiences being displayed on a large monitor via Alex's mind transfer protocol, showing horrific, first person hallucinations. Continuing her search, she finds an empty vile marked 'C Virus', a syringe marked 'ALEX WESKER' and an empty pod marked 'E-001'. Jill brings her search to a halt when she overhears Alex and Albert's voices in another room nearby. Claiming "soon, I will unlock the secret to true immortality" via the newly-created C-Virus and newly-acquired Omega strain, Jill bursts through the room, but finds it completely deserted, revealing it to be a hallucination. Jill continues to search the room with her gun cocked when she is suddenly met with the startling appearance of Enchantress, who flies in her face after hanging off the wall. A shocked Jill turns around and runs into none other than Albert who viciously assaults and nearly drowns her before placing a needle-loaded collar device around her neck. Helpless, he drags the battered Jill away before tossing and locking her inside of a holding cell in a hidden dorm. |
Episode 2: Unraveled Fate[]
Claire's Nightmare |
---|
"Awake" at last from the TerraSave cruise attack, Claire finds herself in a red void surrounded in a membrane. Literally "awakening" inside the mind of Natalia, Claire must endure a continuous cycle of danger, encountering horrific Incubo rising out of the ground smothered in membrane tissue, daggers falling from up above, Manne-kills randomly bursting out of the ground and other dangers while Alex fights to gain control of her mind. She eventually finds Natalia, and protecting her while they try to escape. Evading all of the horrific dangers lurking before her, Alex, in a last ditch effort, tries to consume them both as her face peers out of both sides of each membrane wall.
However, in another mimic, Claire "destroys" Alex in the exact same way her predecessor, Ada killed her own, disintegrating Alex with a tank of nitrogen gas. Narrowly escaping the blast resulting from its exploding membrane literally personifying Natalia's mind, Claire winds up inside of a haunted vineyard. Scattered with corpses that randomly spring to life-often in buried contraptions-in the form of zombies, living tree branches (with molded occasionally emerging from them), and omnipresent fog, Claire claws her way through a never-ending series of deadly contraptions, eventually running into the horrific Cadavra monster, who emerges from a set of vines severing its skin in horrific detail. Chasing Claire through the yard, she eventually escapes into a haunted mansion. Searching for Natalia, she eventually uncovers an obituary of Natalia's dead parents when she hears young girl's laughter in the nearby room. Claire slowly navigates the dark bedroom when a Manne-kill pops out of the bed covers and starts attacking her. After killing the doll-and others in darkened corners-Claire sees something walk past her and follows said movement out the door leading straight into a never-ending hallway. However, the door begins constantly stretching itself along with constantly flashing lights and satanic music blaring in the background. Claire backtracks and shuts off the PA system in one of the bedrooms behind her. Exiting the room, Claire navigates down the hall when a corpse suddenly falls out of the closet to her left followed by a zombie coming out of the adjacent room to her right. After killing the zombie, Claire sees a hand shutting the suddenly opened attic up above. Navigating and finding the key, Claire unlocks and navigates the attic steps, running into a series of various monsters and Manne-kills in darkened quarters along the way. Claire continues searching and eventually discovers Albert Wesker standing behind her in the reflection in a mirror. He attacks Claire before turning her around in a headlock to face none other than Natalia in her now demonic "true" Enchantress form controlled through his sister's consciousness. She charges at Claire and rips through her heart-in the same manner her "brother" killed Spencer 8 years ago-before Albert finishes her off by snapping her neck. |
Claire's Story |
---|
Claire wakes up in what appears to be a holding cell. Waking up beside a portrait of Jill and Mike, she's alarmed to see an opaque ghoulish girl standing in a darkened corner of the picture. Picking up a fire lantern off the nearby nightstand, she starts venturing the tight premise after hearing radio transmissions from nearby. Having immediate flashbacks of her detention on Rockfort Island, Claire soon discovers it to be a haunted maze cleverly-disguised as a cell. With the ominous words "Tumbling Down the Rabbit Hole" etched on the walls, Claire soon finds herself in a deathly maze meshed in barbed wire filled with unexpected horrors and deadly puzzles lurking around each chamber. Completing one puzzle only to wind up inside of another after unlocking each path, Claire eventually reaches the end of the tunnel, aptly-named The Rabbit Hole Trap.
Finding the words "Hear As I Hear" on the wall, she's distraught to hear a distorted version of the song "Hush Little Baby" playing through the facility walls. Following the sound to the main hallway on the B1 wing, Claire sees Jill on a monitor screen up above surrounded in a barricade, who is venturing the facility halls on the other side at this same time. Continuing down the hall, Claire passes more monitor screens, the first showing a woman who bears a striking resemblance to Jill navigating through a haunted cabin, except with noticeably darker and shorter hair and is seen wearing a S.T.A.R.S. uniform. This is soon followed by a depiction of forest trees surrounded in red fog and TerraSave members being held hostage throughout the facility on separate screens. Upon passing by one last monitor screen, which is mysteriously blacked out, fellow TerraSave member, Joel Easton appears on a large set of computer screens located at the end of the hall. Claire goes to answer his distress calls, but his feed is soon sabotaged by the demonic Enchantress, who boasts having not only unlocked the key to immortality, but true terror: the human mind. Assuring Claire that she will soon, too, fear her, she telepathically triggers a power outage that sets off a chain of deadly traps causing on-and-off flickering and color-changing fluorescent lights and hall distortion loops as she navigates throughout B1. After enduring a series of Enchantress' mind games, Claire eventually stumbles upon a distorted monitor screen of a gurney-strapped woman kicking and screaming in agony with the words "Feel As I Feel" engraved high above in blood red graffiti. A simple glance into the accompanying security camera causes a flickering light. Claire begins to suffer a panic attack of her own as the woman's trauma was imprinted into the camera from her consciousness via Alex's mind-transfer protocol and transferred to herself with a single flash of the lens, imprinting only those parts of her subconscious from that precise moment in time into herself (state of mind transfer). A heart-racing Claire charges into the nearby bathroom, evading a pack of stalking Incubo and zombies awaiting her along the way. Upon healing herself with psychedelic medicine over the sink, she sees a reflection in the mirror of Albert Wesker. However, she turns around and finds none other than Enchantress' horrific face bursting out of the nearby tub drenched in blood. After another flickering of the lights, Claire is met with a pair of randomly-appearing Incubo who catch her by surprise. Withstanding the monsters, Claire exits back into the hallway, but finds a candle vigil where she originally saw a pair of double doors. The hall transforms into a haunted reimagining of the hallway leading to Spencer's office where her brother, Chris and his partner, Jill had their fated encounter with Albert Wesker years ago as she backtracks through the hall. Along the way, she bypasses portraits of the Wesker family-as well as TRICELL agents Jessica, Raymond and Derek C. Simmons-which had replaced the windows. However, the "familiar" double doors disappear as the candles burn out following a bleed out effect on the nearby walls. Continuing down the darkened hallway, Claire is eventually smothered in fog escaping through invisible rungs following a door opening sound. Seeping through the fog are horrific holograms of ghost girls donning mutant black eyes while the demonic girl's voice begins reciting "Ring Around The Rosy". Undeterred, Claire then sees shadows of demonic symbols on the adjacent hall following the end of the recital ("We All Fall Down") after a light flicker. After turning the corner, the hallway lights turn green, imitating a ghost hunt. Claire encounters a flock of massive stick figures hanging on the ceiling from which Incubo occasionally fall and attack at random after passing them. Claire eventually encounters Cadavra, who bursts out one of the stick figures and chases her into a zombie-infested hallway. Along the way, Claire runs into bloody hand prints on the walls which eventually take the form of silhouetted arms after a random flickering of the lights. Upon reaching the end of the hall, Claire finds Wesker holding her brother, Chris, strapped to a gurney, in the window, proclaiming "paybacks are a bitch." Claire quickly breaks through the window to rescue her brother after barricading herself as she's chased from behind, but finds the room empty, revealing it to be an apparition. Finding journal entries of hostages, Claire eventually runs into a pair of Cuj'os and narrowly outruns them. Locking herself in the adjacent room after outrunning them, she discovers a unique item on the counter. Picking it up, she begins to see a montage of flashbacks from other people's memories. The flashbacks reveal that Jill was in Raccoon City at the same time as her during the T-Virus outbreak and also helped save a life that night just as she did Sherry Birkin's: Chet Allison, child survivor of the outbreak, now a member of her partner, Chris' Alpha Team. Further clips reveal that Jessica and Raymond had orchestrated the Terragrigia Panic and Natalia's subsequent abduction while acting under the guise of F.B.C. operatives under orders from TRICELL, led by Albert Wesker. Claire then learns the shocking truth: Natalia had become the new vessel for Alex Wesker's consciousness after winding up in her custody on Sushestvovanie Island, leaving the Burton house and arriving on the island where Jessica, Raymond and Tripp are seen planting the bodies of Uroboros survivors on "her" own free will leading directly to their capture. The deception revealed, Umbrella researcher Annette Birkin is then depicted receiving an injection along with a diagram of sperm and egg cells ovulating where upon Ada is heard asking a seemingly younger Albert Wesker "what have you done with her?" However, this is immediately followed with a seemingly unrelated clip of Mia Winters, of Umbrella rival Tentsu being tortured after receiving an injection of the T-Incubo virus, creating confusion. Upon exiting the room, Claire runs into the next trap, "See As I See" engraved on the wall when the Terragrigiia trio appear on a monitor screen. Taunting Claire, they immediately blanket her in a VR simulation in the form of a symbiotic aesthetic on the wall with nightmarish lighting effects via Alex's digitized consciousness protocol, projecting it from an unknown device. Dubbed "Nightmare Vision", Claire goes through a number of unique horrors emerging from the walls at random turns, trying to follow a wiring path. Eventually finding the end of the wiring, Claire runs into a human Natalia and follows her lead. However, she leads her straight into a symbiotic maze after getting sucked into the wall. With moving amalgamations of molded corpses and other disturbing imagery awaiting her around every corner, Claire eventually finds Natalia sinking into the ground via symbiotic quicksand. Finding and pulling the switch, Claire deactivates the Symbiotic Maze puzzle via turbine and winds up in a generator room, though Natalia has disappeared. When a symbiote welds the door shut, Claire is forced to enter another puzzle, and eventually finds a pliers and piece of paper with the order by which to cut the wiring. Claire deactivates the Nightmare Vision puzzle, but unknowingly triggers another contraption in doing so as flashing zombie apparitions are scattered about the hallways, projected through a blinking light generator via the virus. After obtaining the Lion Key in the darkened, claustrophobic Bunker Room, having to go through enemies peering off and underneath the bunkers and Alex's horrific face appearing in the window, Claire enters the Mirror Room whereupon she must endure the occult Mirror Trap. After enduring demonic apparitions appearing in, out of and around mirrors-while moving them onto pulley-activating platforms-corpses and Manta begin to fall from the ceiling via ropes. Claire is then able to snag the Crescent Moon artifact which sets off a revolving door taking her directly to the next room. Claire hears a nearby phone ringing in a pitch black room and is horrified when Alex suddenly appears on a TV screen. After speaking to Claire, the lights turn on, revealing a haunted Chess Board recreation with moving spiked statues, laser wires and mounted Manne-kill dolls rotating around the terrifying room. In using the lasers to destroy the moving pieces after dodging them, Claire obtains The Devil's Eye artifact which she uses to unlock the hallway leading to a control deck, having to endure additional laser wire traps and enemies in a darkened tight space to reach it. Deactivating the laser wires, Claire exits into the hangar room, but runs into a red hazeous Gas A hallucinogen that suddenly fills the room, blinding her while enemies (real or hallucinatory) appear at random to attack. Unlocking a grating leading to a darkened, Pighead-infested chamber, Claire takes the staircase leading directly to a second control deck which she uses to shut off the pipes. In doing so, she activates a set of pulleys-via control panel-that carry coffins through two openings-on the lower level and ceiling which can be reached via walkway-each with dangers lurking around every corner. Claire follows echoing Jill screams-not immediately recognizing her voice-into an eerie dark trail resembling a barbaric torture chamber. Encountering eerie sounds-including doll and girl laughter-light-shunned corpses, flickering lights, and vanishing Mannekills, Creepers, Pigheads, and Incubo jumping out at her around every corner, a petrified Claire is led into a seemingly endless trail of horrors. Proceeding with caution, Claire's path takes another chilling turn as Enchantress' flickering mortified face leads her into a set of moving dark bodies before encountering real zombies at the end of the trail. Going down a haunted staircase with ominous paintings, Enchantress' horrific face once again randomly appears in the doorway as Claire tries to open it, followed by a Necromongul randomly emerging from underneath the staircase as she turns around. Claire escapes through the open door, finding it empty when she turns around. Leading Claire straight into the Needle in a Deathstack Trap, she is faced with 10 coffins each either containing items (including a keychain and needed keycard), weapons or enemies lurking inside. After obtaining the keycard to a shack-like hallway, Claire is faced with flashing zombie arms reaching through openings in the wall in a "familiar" recreation. In doing so, Claire is able to locate the switch which deactivates a set of laser wires barricading the B2 doorway, but finds another trap, marked "Keys To Your Freedom" on the walls in the nearby shower area. After turning the valve, Claire is blinded by a gas hidden in the shower pipes and zombies bursting out of stalls in the back which activates bloody showers pouring from the faucets. However, the blood uncovers the clues-via writing on the wall-by which to unlock a crate in the wall-barricaded in stones-containing a flamethrower, having to fight her way through blinding gas and swarming zombies to obtain it. Burning all incoming enemies, Claire is able to unlock a hidden passageway-originally shrouded in gas which evaporates on impact-leading straight into the locker room area where she's able to pick up various items-including all 3 B2 room keys, herbs, and ammo boxes. However, she's eventually met with a burning Cadavra bursting out of one of the lockers. Using an aptly labeled escape route ("Back Against The Wall"), Claire is able to unlock a secret revolving door leading straight into a dark room. After being subjected to a series of horrific imagery-a silhouette of Wesker ripping a baby from a woman's uterus ("I believe this belongs to ME!"), a mutated infant on top of a generator, an apparition of a mutated Annette with her womb ripped out, a hallucination of Rhysport being attacked with a T-Incubo viral missile and Enchantress awaiting in the hall-Claire eventually finds 4 dangling eye pieces-via the blinking light trap-with the code to unlock the B2 door in the form of an ouija board and the switch to shut off the blinking generator. Proceeding into the B2 hallway, Claire must obtain artifacts hidden inside the organs of 3 of her deceased TerraSave allies' corpses-Lauren Mickelson, Jared Cohen and Cliff Medina-in order to fulfill the 3 pieces of the pentagram sealing the B3 hallway door, reliving the devastation of Terragrigia, Sushestvovanie Island (including the torturing of inmates) and Raccoon City via holographic hallway aesthetics along the way. Activating the deadly Bloodbath Puzzle (from which Cadavra emerges and chases Claire through a series of blood geysers emerging from the ground in which monsters spring to life) inside the ominous Blood Room via the Lava Lamp and Electric Chair puzzle (where Cadavra anxiously awaits Claire in a tight, corpse-littered hallway in an electric chair and surrounding water), Claire ventures through the riveting Freezer Room maze to get the badge and fingerprints off the Umbrella employee corpse-Ted Arnholdt-needed to enter the R&D and embryonic/vile labs, having to go through mazes covered in apparitional white fog. Seeing the glass prisons of mutant embryonic B.O.W.s, Claire obtains the carbon monoxide vile needed to complete the Gas Chamber puzzle, making note of its de-ja vu symptoms (in light of "Natalia" uttering "I want my Lottie" in the nightmare and again right before entering the Symbiotic Maze) as noted on the container. However, she then finds herself being chased by Albert Wesker who's seen approaching the lab on the monitor. Claire tries to outrun him after hiding, but is caught and injected with a syringe. Waking up in a haunted greenhouse-a haunted reincarnation of the vile lab via syringe-induced hallucination-Claire battles her way through blinding gases, haunted plants and molded monsters to find the antidote before mutating. Waking up back in the real world, Claire continues into the hall leading to the vaunted Gas Chamber, evading an ambush from Cadavra to obtain the final puzzle piece from Jared's heart upon activation. Upon proceeding into hall B3, Claire is delighted when she finds Natalia, but incidentally activates a motion-sensored alarm system in trying to rescue her down the hall. Using the available cover and resources, Claire manages to open and escape into the vent after drawing all zombies and B.O.W.s to her location, encountering moving shadows-and Enchantress waiting around the corner-along the way. She eventually runs into a Manta chasing her. Cocking her gun, Claire kills the Manta, and desperately tries to escape as tear gas begins to fill the shaft after being exerted from its body. Claire exits into the Doll Room where she must endure more of Enchantress' psychological mindgames in the tension-filled Doll Maze puzzle before obtaining a ziplock bag-labeled Evidence Bag-and tape waiting for her on the shelf. Claire collects the first of 5 tapes containing a 2-digit code as part of the Tape Puzzle wherein Trip, Jessica, and Raymond all reveal their insidious plan with Jessica noting that "'Natalia' is back home, or should I say... Alex" after deceiving Chet and eventually another in a separate room, taken some time after. A glitched-out man, identified as Maximilian Anderson, tells Jessica "I love it when a plan comes together," referring to their capture of members of the Umbrella rival, Tentsu onboard their ship in furtherance of their bigger goal. Continuing her search throughout the facility, Claire obtains the 3rd tape, consisting of a viral training mission with her brother, Chris, who immediately has flashbacks upon seeing the words "Kiuju" engraved on the wall; a 4th, entailing a Jill therapy session at the B.S.A.A. testing facility before her second capture where she describes having suffered from severe PTSD and flashbacks due to her treatment at the hands of her captor, Albert Wesker. Upon finding the 5th and final tape, Claire is able to obtain archive footage of Jill while being experimented on during her ordeal. Obtaining the 10-digit passcode from the 5 collected tapes-a juxtaposing of "Alpha Omega"-Claire is able to obtain more vlogs of Jill in the computer lab via treasure hunt. Piecing them together one-by-one, Jill describes her relationship with Mike, the man in the picture she found in her S.T.A.R.S. office, describing them as very close but "I haven't met his partner, Leon." She later describes the relationship as having strained from him becoming a workaholic for "reasons unknown" and bearing responsibility for his death-after being called to investigate a series of "murders" in Raccoon City-having witnessed and failed to disclose supernatural activity of her own in Raccoon City. Jill then recalls rescuing a T-Virus survivor-Chet-from the Raccoon City train tracks and finding and curing his infected dad in the hospital by obtaining the antidote, taking solace in having later saved a life (actually, two lives). She also mentions seeing Wesker at Mike's funeral, who reveals that he personally unleashed Nemesis to hunt Jill while noting "he had a score to settle with (her partner), Chris" who he later found on Rockfort Island along with his sister. Now motivated to find Jill, feeling "bonded" by this discovery, Claire fulfills the second part of the treasure hunt by obtaining the lever passcode from the x-rays in the adjacent X-Ray room. In doing so, she opens the door leading to B4 hallway, albeit while simultaneously opening garage doors filled with zombies (via cam footage) in unknown parts of the hall. Upon navigating through B4-after escaping the random zombie encounters-Claire runs into another nightmare toxin leak, transforming the hallway into a ghost ship, which is, in fact, a haunted reincarnation of the Queen Zenobia. Enduring near-invisible, see-through stalls, walls and objects, slithering Phantasm, dark hallways, eerie sounds and other haunting paranormal activity, Claire eventually finds a lever, dismantling the transformative toxin and its endless looping effects to which she then encounters Easton. Upon learning that Enchantress and her men are holding Barry hostage, Claire begins searching for him, eventually finding him attached to a gurney in a secret room. Noting the writing "Free My Mind" engraved on the wall (with an arrow pointing downwards), Claire attaches the other end of the attached wiring to herself on the opposite gurney. In doing so, she enters the same simulated nightmare construct created from Jill's memories and begins searching for Barry. Claire enters a reimagining of Lisa Trevor's cabin-reinvented from a strain of the virus-and rescues Barry, going through a haunted cornfield and zombie-infested yard, including a scarecrow springing to life-Cadavra in disguise-to retrieve him after finding the key in a hellish search. Waking up back in the room, Claire informs Barry that Umbrella is planning to launch a nuclear missile containing the virus which could engulf all of the New York metropolitan area in panic and mutation. Noting the situation, Barry he responds that "TerraSave has already sent (security officer) (Kyle) Calahan along with the new kid" to deal with the virus. Barry clarifies that this "new kid" is none other than Chet, who received combat training from her brother shortly before embarking on his mission in Edonia. Walking back into the hallway, Claire picks a B.S.A.A. training file off the floor, aptly-labeled "ALLISON, CHESTER CHARLES" and signed by none other than her brother, corroborating Barry's claims. Claire uses the encircled badge number of Chet to enter the password-encrypted War Room. Beginning another treasure hunt, Claire searches the room for clues. A side-by-side comparison of a pair of recovered tapes to live monitor feeds-one from Jill's consciousness and the other from real time security footage on the A hall-reveals that Cadavra is a hallucination-thus revealing the means of his invincibility-and Jill had suffered hallucinations of the Spencer Mansion on the A2 wing. A series of supercomputer-projected flashbacks-via looted Memento device-reveals that William Birkin's wife, Annette had been working for Umbrella at the same time, well before the Arklay incident. Additionally, she would be used to further his very own Progenitor research by birthing a pair of "Meta Twins" using Wesker's Prototype virus-based DNA as an IVF donor in order to test its proficiency. Ironically, their trial would be held at the Umbrella Chicago lab one month before the Arklay incident. Moreover, the "Twins" had later been separated (exact circumstances unknown) to keep Wesker's T-Virus plans confidential, but Jessica had learned through Wesker several months before the Kijuju incident that Lena's DNA had long since been harboring supercells, known as Omega Genes through the combined presence of the Prototype and G Virus. Continuing down the hall, Claire learns that Wesker had fathered another child, Jake Muller, who was last seen with a now-adult Sherry-who she rescued many years prior-in China. After subsequently learning of Piers' fate, Claire approaches one final image of a human Alex sending a pod back into cryostasis. She then goes to answer a nearby phone ringing, which turns out to be Ada calling her on her looted cellphone when the line is hacked by a laughing Enchantress. Zombies are seen trying to break through the nearby glass window after another spontaneous power outage. A bloodied Annette groggily gets off of a gurney muttering "save my babies" when she's dismembered by a spontaneously-appearing Enchantress. Claire sees one split second flicker of the Weskers' silhouette-and the mysterious woman, presumably Lena standing between them-when another Nightmare toxin breakout spontaneously occurs. She's forced to navigate through a sporadically-transforming, corpse-filled room-where monsters randomly emerge-which eventually sees her inside an adjacent dark cave-like maze. Claire endures things jumping out at her around nearly every invisible corner-and, at one point, a bloody moat-to make it back. Escaping through the nightmarish Catacombs Puzzle, Claire makes her way back into the transformed room and quickly evades all surrounding enemies. Now back in the B4 hallway after exiting, things take another ugly turn when Claire finds herself being chased by the suddenly-emerging hellacious Cenobite/leech-like monster, Magdala. Racing down the hall to evade its agape mouth and tentacles as it tries to devour her, Claire baits the monster, throwing a looted Molotov Cocktail in its mouth. She then leads the terrifying monster it to its fiery death down a pit at the end of the hall after evading it. However, Claire takes the elevator to the lower floor and is met with the sudden appearance of terrifying amalgamated Condemned creatures awaiting her right out of the gate, seemingly molded together by the fiery substances. Fighting her way through suddenly-appearing trap doors-and creatures emerging from them-on the bottom floor, Claire eventually finds the corpse of Derek C. Simmons. Having to run his corpse through an X-Ray scanner, Claire is able to obtain the code to hack a terminal in the adjacent room where the nightmarish hivemind Manj'aro creature emerges. After destroying the creature, Claire discovers footage of Jill being held hostage with a collar device around her neck. After obtaining and loading a tranq gun, Claire continues searching and obtains the Codex-portable radar device-via passcode-protected safe that pinpoints Jill's location. However, the collar device around her neck injects a hallucinogen into her system which causes Jill to see her masked captor in Claire's place and starts attacking her in a fit of rage. After defeating and neutralizing Jill with the tranquilizers, Claire removes the collar device from her neck. Jill begins seeing flashbacks of Chris during their Kijuju encounter in her subconscious as she begins to talk to her. Asking if it's Chris just as she starts regaining her consciousness, she responds "no, Claire... Claire Redfield." |
Episode 3: Retribution[]
Jill/Claire's Story |
---|
After rescuing Jill, the two begin exploring new areas of the Cryo lab together. Using the map on the Codex, Claire is able to pinpoint a hub in an adjacent hall which can then unlock a new hallway on the East wing of the Cryo lab. Using her lockpick, Jill is able to unlock the door leading to the West wing. In a linked hallway filled with numerous sliding doors, they enter a surveillance room where, after picking up a backpack needed to hold the 3 missing pieces of the control hub, they come across archived monitor screen footage. An adult Alex Wesker orders two masked assassins, including one donning Jill's old Bird Lady attire, to obtain samples of the Mold contained within the Mutamycete fungus and Eveline's DNA on board the rival Tentsu's ship while the mysterious masked woman was tasked with incapacitating and rounding up the hostages, or workers of Tentsu.
After finding the 3 missing pieces of-and thereby activating-the control hub, Claire and Jill open the door leading to the new facility wing. While exploring together, they venture through a high-tech, space station-like hallway filled with disturbing imagery. In a hallway block filled with smoke, corpses hanging from the ceiling, blue reverberating lights, blood pouring from the ceiling sprinklers, path lights creating a distorted lighting effect and eerie screeching sounds, they come across dark corpses molding out of the ground and demonic holographic avatars appearing before them. This proved to be a distraction as they immediately enounter Condemned and Incubo appearing out of randomly-opening pods behind them. At one point, Claire rescues Jill from a pod Incubo that spontaneously grabs her from behind and starts gnashing into her head. Upon finding launch codes and a missile silo blueprint, they enter the Control Room B. Claire enters the launch code on the control deck, believing it to be a code to stop the viral missile launch, but instead launches a pod that captures her in doing so. Enchantress appears on the overhead projector screen, revealing that it was a trap. She then unleashes a toxin leaving Jill seeing blurred and distorted hallucinogenic images with only a revolving background door to guide her through the room. Jill follows a series of loops, encountering numerous horrifying glitched-out apparitions before proceeding into the hidden room through the revolving door. However, a new series of scares awaits her as she encounters an exceptionally-straining set of hallucinogenic loops, apparitions, booby traps and maze-like puzzles. Mentally-stricken, Jill continues her search for Claire, but activates a new toxin that creates a ghostly whirldwind effect, often blinding her from the enemies lurking the hallways. Jill eventually finds her location and unearths Claire's pod via launch code, but receives a psychodrug injection via mechanical needle. Informed that Claire is fading fast, her heartrate will too flatline if she doesn't find an antidote. With her vision impaired once again, Jill desperately searches the confines using her Genesis Scanner and manages to open a pair of viles containing the antidote. After freeing Claire and injecting both her and herself with the antidote, they head out the door leading straight into a laser-filled hallway. After evading the laser traps, Claire and Jill unlock a dungeon-like trap door leading straight into a room very much resembling the Dining Room from the Spencer Mansion. They search the premise for a pair of emblems, placing them into a nearby statue. However, the walls begin to spring to life, forming a giant caged enclosure around them as the room transforms itself into a giant cage-like maze. The walls also begin to slowly close in on them. Using teamwork, Jill and Claire claw their way through a series of obstacles, narrowly escaping the Mousetrap Puzzle before being crushed. They proceed through a wax-like hall leading straight into a gas-filled Boiler Room. They encounter horrific zombie apparitions along the way before a burning hand covered in fog grabs Claire's leg, revealing itself to be a Necromongul. Jill rescues Claire after dispensing of the creature. They proceed into the Steam Room where they find themselves having to team up to fight through another caged maze involving blowing steam and other contraptions while being ambushed by Cadavra. Escaping the Steam Maze puzzle, Jill and Claire take a staircase located at the end of the Boiler Room leading straight into an underground cavern. Little-by-little, they explore the cavern, using carvings, notes and other clues to unlock secret tombs with deadly traps awaiting them. Finding an incinerator, elevator shaft with engraved passcode and emblems, they unlock a crevice leading straight to a garden amid a horrific set of Incubo rising out of quicksand. Narrowly escaping the B.O.W.s, Jill and Claire find a bed of Stairway of the Sun flowers being harvested-along with notes from Alex-before stumbling across a black SotS flower. They use it obtain a compound after running it through the incinerator before leaving via elevator using the shaft. Using the engraved code, Jill and Claire make their way into a secret Cryo Lab area filled with test tubes containing Incubo inside. They find themselves in another perilous situation as the monsters begin to break free of their confines after springing to life. Using stealth and other means, they bypass the swarming test tube monsters to navigate through the facility, obtaining the passcode to the adjacent DNA Room. While in the DNA Room, Claire runs the looted material through the nearby DNA scanner and obtains a PGSA sniper rifle with an accompanying thermal scope attachment. While in the DNA room, they come across green screen footage of the two masked assailants navigating a ship deck, but it goes haywire when a giant B.O.W. emerges from the sea, barely catching glimpses of the sea monster.Enchantress soon appears over the scrambled CCTV footage as she telepathically reverts the feed over to herself. She begins reciting the last stanza of Poe's The Raven while standing before gagged mannequins of Jill and Claire. Leading to their next clue, they search the premise, finding a hardcover of Poe's The Raven containing a vid file. After playing the file via computer, they learn the horrifying truth: Alex had inhabited Barry Burton's daughter, Natalia Korda's body via her transferred consciousness, which she had subsequently replaced with a genetically-modified clone of Tentsu bioweapon, Eveline using the C-Virus and samples of her DNA, hence explaining her stark contrast in physical appearance from Natalia. Continuing their journey, they proceed through a Storage Room-escaping a pack of zombies attempting to bite them through a wall of protoplasm before encountering them in the very next (unlocked) room along the way-into the next hallway. Claire then learns, via her updated Codex file, that this facility contains a monastery hidden within its infrastructure. Using a set of cranes, pulleys and other devices in the BL Main Chamber, they activate a series of platforms together, which they use to latch onto ladders in order to make it onto the laboratory rooftop. Encountering apparitions along the way, they manage to locate and break through the window leading to a hidden part of the facility containing Alex's location. Escaping through the window, they land in a secret hallway where they encounter Ada Wong, who had simultaneously been venturing through the same wing of the facility upon answering a secret call in Lanshiang. After learning of their close ties to Chris Redfield-familial and professional, respectively-upon revealing her working relationship she had with him in China, Jill warns Ada of Umbrella's plan to raid downtown Rhysport with the T-Incubo virus which could soon engulf all of New York City in mass panic and infection. With Ada set out to stop the planned viral missile launch, she unlocks the door to the Central Control Room using her hacking device in order to assist them in their hunt for Alex. While in the Main Control Room, they attempt to trace Alex's location using Claire's Codex. However, Alex crashes the Control Room central hub using an EMP, thus disabling all electronic equipment. Attempting to restore power to the main hub, they navigate through a hidden hallway by secondary means-ventilation system-leading right to the facility's power supply. After restoring power to the facility, they unlock a door leading back into the Control Room when Alex is seen watching in a window from many feet above. Providing them with a hint, Jill and Claire unlock a series of new doors using the Control Room's control booth in order to obtain access codes. Activating both a bridge and elevator pod from the central fuse, they unlock a vault leading into a hidden passage many stories high. Proceeding through a series of circular rooms, they make their way into the main shaft where they encounter a new foe, Juggernaut, a giant regenerative husk BOW with many underlying layers of chrysalid flesh who's heart rate is tied to the central hub. With a DNA cloning device creating an endless swarm of accompanying enemies, Jill goes to destroy the device, having to evade a series of laser wire traps along the way, while Claire battles the foe head on, the laser wires creating slowly-forming aggregates of himself via his dissected flesh. After defeating Juggernaut, they open 4 interconnected doors connected to the main shaft, each letting out clouds of haze, from which they manage to run, scan, and obtain a DNA blueprint containing access codes to the elevator in the 4th room, encountering swarms of enemies-including pod Incubo-along the way. Activating the pod elevator via the main hub using the access code, they unlock a series of trap doors where enemies surround them from all sides while they await for the pod's arrival. Withstanding the monsters, they escape via the pod elevator after finally making its arrival, taking them to a secret hallway leading into the Furnace Room many feet below. Making their way inside a dilapidated room scattered with wooden furnaces, Jill and Claire complete a new series of side quests, unlocking a set of doors-each with enemies lurking inside-until they're able to obtain The Raven emblem key. Proceeding into a murky room filled with fog and eerie sounds, Claire stands apost as Jill suddenly falls through a suddenly-opening trap door in the ground. Leading her straight into a moat with the destroyed Queen Zenobia laying below, Jill completes a series of quests through the submarine-after obtaining a snorkel with a Manta safeguarding it-while Claire ventures through the facility, turning off the various gas pipes in order to track Jill's location and stand guard via her sniper rifle, encountering numerous horrific mutant apparitions jumping out at her through abstract mist along the way. With many horrors awaiting Jill, including various eels that try to devour her (much like the ones Claire encountered in the Symbiotic Maze), zombie mermaids, and psychedelic and floating apparitions of Alex across a set of tombs, Claire rescues her after opening the escape hatch as she's about to be dissected by a turbine at the far end of the submarine after finding the last of the emblem keys. Continuing into the main hall, Jill and Claire navigate a hall littered with scary paintings on the wall as they approach Alex's chamber. Once inside, Alex tauntingly greets them with a set of mind games-including disturbing apparitions of her that quickly vanish and her echoing sinister girl voice and laughter-before they encounter her. With swarms of enemies surrounding them, Claire agrees to fend off the Incubo and Pigheads while Jill fights Alex head on, insisting this is her fight in lieu of a score to settle with the Wesker family. Combating swarms of Mannequills chucked at her, terrifying apparitions used to buy Alex distractions (including molded heads trying to devour Jill through walls), telepathy, teleportation and other theatrics, Jill defeats Alex, blasting her into the burning fireplace with her shotgun as she lunges through the air at her in a last ditch effort. With Alex sent to her second fiery death, Jill and Claire receive reconnaissance from the remaining zombies, Incubo and Pigheads as Ada, on board a B.S.A.A. rescue chopper, kicks a rope down to them and helps them escape. However, they are too late in their endeavors to stop the T-Incubo viral missile launch as they fly over a devastated Rhysport, the airborne cloud engulfing all of the uptown area. |
Epilogue |

Jill arrives at the Burton's house along with Claire. In response to her e-mail, she finally meets Barry. Distraught over his step daughter disappearance, Jill assures him they'll find her, hiding guilt over having secretly killed his daughter, knowing the truth about Natalia.
Meanwhile, TerraSave security officer, Kyle Calahan meets with TerraSave CEO, Alan Richter at the TerraSave HQ. Informing them that the virus has hit Rhysport, he sends him on a rendezvous to meet new B.S.A.A. Alpha operative, Chet Allison on a mission to stop the outbreak before it's too late. In a post-credits sequence set sometime beforehand, Ada utters "duty calls" when she approaches the main office of the B.S.A.A. North American branch, revealing the whereabouts of her secret caller in China, though his/her identity remains a secret. |
Episode 4: Revelation (Bonus)[]
Prologue |
---|
Ada arrives at the main office of the B.S.A.A. North American branch. She meets B.S.A.A. advisor, Clive O'Brian, her secret caller in China. Warning that they've received intel of the FBC planning another bioterror plot, he shows her an encrypted video file of Jessica meeting with a man, who's posture is glitched out, identifying himself as Maximilian Anderson. Ada believes this is an alias, discovering via her PDA that his full name literally translates to "Greatest Son of Man."
When asked of the possibility of it being a returning Albert Wesker, Ada answers "Maybe, or another one of his familiars. There's only one way to find out." |
Ada's Story |
---|
Ada arrives at the facility grounds. She tries to enter the back of the facility through the front parking lot, looking to access the missile base via the Control Center after unlocking the access codes via her mobile hacking device, but finds the front entrance bombarded with Condemned in the midst of smokescreening fog. Ada evades all comers and escapes through the sides into the back lot of the laboratory grounds, but discovers a batch of open caskets on the other side as the environment transforms itself into a leafy, foggy graveyard due to a Nightmare Toxin leak.
Ada cautiously approaches the coffins and is met with the sudden emergence of Incubo as they spring out of them. She tries to escape through the back door, only to then run into Baroness as she literally comes blazing through. Chased back into the path of the Incubo, Ada sidesteps them around the set of tombstones, but finds herself caged in as the masked woman suddenly closes an unseen fenced door on her and seals it shut. Proceeding through a fenced enclosure, Ada navigates past some corpse-littered cages into a foggy rainforest, soaking wet from head to toe as the environment suddenly changes from clear skies to shattered thunderstorms. Walking past some huts, and occasionally running into surrounding zombies, Phantasm and various collectibles along the way, Ada follows a cloaked woman into the foggy woods, her bare butt showing through her drenched undergarment in the soaking rain. Ada prods her way through a series of haunting apparitions when, before long, a pair of glowing red eyes start approaching her around every surrounding tree. Standing her guard, Ada cautiously continues running and, if necessary, firing, occasionally running into actual zombies at various random turns. She eventually runs into the cloaked woman, who turns around, revealing a pair of glowing red eyes through a haunting mask. This creates a distorted red distopian void around Ada as the environment around her is disintegrating into the air. She eventually collapses in front of a gated fencing, nearly passing out after the trauma she endured from these nightmarish hallucinations she'd been subjected to. Ada staggeringly gets up and turns straight into the masked woman, who chokes and holds her against a tree. Regurgitating, Ada looks her dead in the eye, with the woman's scarred face glimmering right through the mask. After nearly suffocating Ada, she throws her face-first into a set of face-implanted graves which begin to spring to life as zombies nestle their way out from under the soil while Ada frantically crawls away. Ada is forced to scramble her way through a tightly-confined, gated cemetery as she races to find the key to unlock the nearby gate with undead lurking in her every direction. Narrowly evading the zombies, Ada continues through the gate into a secret channel in the woods. To her dismay, it leads her straight into a foggy, branch-scattered vineyard, having to bypass a maze of coiled vine trenches, and Incubo occasionally emerging from them. Along the way, she runs into a corpse being dragged through the fog and smut by a vine-like substance. After making her way through the vines, Ada finds herself being chased by none other than Monster Wesker. Ada draws her gun and fires, but to no avail as Wesker is easily able to avert her bullets. Ada starts running for dear life and runs straight into a leg clamping trap. Looking out into the distance, Ada finds Wesker gone, but in his place, a pack of Cuj'o appear out of the woods. Shooting herself free, Ada quickly gets up and outruns the Cuj'o as they gun after her using the nearby leg traps as bait. Continuing through the forest, Ada spots a well. Climbing down the ladder, Ada uses the looted Well Key leading her into a terrifying mine-filled catacombs with apparitional fog, holograms, and monsters-often prefacing real ones, including monsters randomly bursting out of chrysalid sacks in the rocks at one point-bleed out effects, eerie sounds-including Alex's demonic voice speaking to her-and other terrors awaiting her in paranormal, nightmarish and often unpredictable loops surrounding each tunnel as she completes puzzles to unlock new tombs. After completing the unnerving Batcave Puzzle via 4 piece emblem doorway-and all the terrifying loops preceding it-Ada proceeds into a dungeon-like segment of the mine. In the background, Alex can be heard singing the verses of "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" as Ada continues her haunting exploration of the catacombs. It proved to be foreshadowing as Ada goes through a prison block filled with rusty cells-and disturbing apparitions emerging in them, crying "save us" before disappearing (and, at one point, reappearing outside of the cell)-en route to obtaining the Lakehouse key safeguarded by packs of Creepers lurking at the end of the mine. Finally making her way through the exceptionally-horrifying catacombs, Ada proceeds up a circular stairwell, having to endure wall-clinging Creepers and zombies lurking the tight, foggy staircase on the way up. Continuing through the end of the forest, Ada sees a Lakehouse up ahead (and lighthouse in the distance), but finds it safeguarded by a foggy, zombie-littered graveyard. With apparitional green fog surrounding the presence of actual zombies, it proves to be another bone-chilling excavation as Ada haphazardly escapes through the cemetery. Along the way, Ada narrowly outruns a pack of Cuj'o bursting through a crawlspace and chasing her through the front patio. Ada escapes into the haunted lakehouse, frantically sealing the door upon entry. Filled with white fog and vanishing apparitions lurking across the halls, Ada begins a new series of puzzles, unlocking doors leading to new areas after finding the various house keys. Withstanding zombies, Phantasm, Mannekills and eerie sounds, Ada endures a new cycle of paranormal activity-including Alex locking her inside an open room at one point-as she searches the confines of the haunted lakehouse. After finding the pipeline, Ada turns the boiler valve, thus shutting off the pipe leaking the Nightmare Toxin. She now finds herself in the back of a wooden shack, having been reincarnated due to the its terraforming hallucinogenic effects. Additionally, her previously wet hair and clothes are now dry. With trap doors surrounding her every corner-and monsters within them-Ada backtracks through the shack and continues throughout Zheabus Island back to the facility grounds, the previously stormy skies now turned clear, allowing her to explore the actual environments as they appeared in reality. Backtracking through the fenced area, Ada bypasses Cuj'o kennels and zombies lurking a caged enclosure-where she previously saw corpses lining the hinges-in order to obtain the masterlock key. She unlocks the cage door and continues through the back door into the very end of the New Umbrella research laboratory. Continuing through the C1 door, Ada continues down a series of metallic, high-tech corridors with apparition-illuminating fog, shadows, decaying corpses and other creepy elements, including a tape of a TerraSave survivor from the ship-Jared Cohen-giving a frantic recollection of his experiences inside the cryo lab, getting a close up of Enchantress' terrifying apparitional face before being devoured by an Incubo as he desperately tries to run away. Walking past some crates, Ada finds herself surrounded by Incubo apparitions that follow her around every corner before disappearing followed by a Creeper apparition on the ceiling. Ada turns the corner to the next corridor and encounters more apparitions/Phantasm in the form of demonic scientists, a decaying Alexia and a stick figure-hung Carla descending from the ceiling. Along the way, Ada eventually activates a motion censor-triggered set of lasers. She narrowly dodges the lasers after escaping into an open room at the end of the hall. Finding herself in a tile room with a large mirror at the end of the hall, Ada approaches as she sees a reflection of her doppleganger, Carla. However, the figure starts decaying, bleeding a black substance from her skin. Ada watches as the whole room around her is soon surrounded in Uroboros slime. Venturing around the room, Ada sees a number of horrific Phantasm mold out from the Uro slime beneath her (and eventually an apparition of Alex) covered in grime. As Ada exits the room and turns the corner leading to the next cooridor, the Uro bleedout follows her every step of the way as the walls and floor surrounding her are soon filled with Uroboros slime. Ada continues down the hall, eventually running into slime-covered Incubo, Condemned and Pigheads that randomly burst out of the ground along the way. She eventually finds a switch to disable the Uroboros bleedout effects on a control panel in one of the upcoming rooms. Continuing her search, Ada proceeds through a haunting, glass-filled hallway around the nearby corner. Proceeding into a room with moving holographic apparitions surrounding her, Ada downloads all access codes into her INCryptor mobile hacking device, allowing her immediate entry through all password-protected doors throughout the facility, including the door separating the C1 and C2 blocks. Ada continues into the already half-explorable C2 hallway, collecting various tapes and collectibles such as weapons, ammo and herbs in easily unlockable encrypted rooms before uncovering the first in a line of linked rooms. Dubbed "VR Training Room," Ada encounters a series of holographic images, including scary demonic zombie girls, enlarged Mannequill faces and even a computerized avatar of Alex herself. Ada enters a series of holographic loops as the digital avatar of Alex begins looping her through a series of augmented realities-ncluding a candle room, hazy submarine engine room, mansion, stormy dessert, and others-where haunting apparitions randomly jump out at and encircle Ada in a constant cycle of endearing dread, creating an illusion of walking through it as they appear in front of her. A holographic grid then appears in the middle of the room wherein a pack of Creepers start crawling in random directions, changing paths with every footstep as Ada moves across it. Silhouettes then scarily fall from the ceiling following another dimming of the lights as their paths align. After a series of chilling apparitions following a brief power outage-Creepers appearing and vanishing beside Ada, Alex's haunting face in a bloodbath surrounded by skulls and Evelyn in a chilling recreation of the Garden of Eden-Ada is met with the sudden appearance of real Creepers in their place when the lights return. Ada destroys the Creepers only to kickstart a new wave of randomly-appearing monsters as Ada enters a Raid Mode simulation through Alex's own Red Queen avatar. Ada is forced to destroy every creature in her path in a number of different scenarios using all available resources and unlocks the door leading to the linked room after completing her Raid simulation. In the next room, Ada has flickering, glitchy Incubo apparitions jump out at her in another frenzied loop before being surrounded by a collection of hologram apparitions scattered across the room in a deadly collage. Ada is forced to move across the terrifying holograms in random directions, creating a soon-resetting digital imprint via holographic scanner device only by moving in the right directions and with real Incubo awaiting her on the other side, appearing invisible through said holograms. However, Ada's nightmare continues, leading her straight into a room surrounded by glass on all sides with zombies trying to break free. She activates a set of turbines via exploration and puzzles which destroys the next door. This creates a collateral effect of smoke from the next room sweeping through. Ada escapes the turbine going up and down the wall at the end of the room and activates the second via unlocked switch just as the zombies break out of their glass enclosures, decimating them in order to prevent from being followed into the next room. She narrowly escapes the dangerous puzzle into the next room, having to evade hordes of surrounding zombies and turbine blades covered in mist. As only fate would have it, the next room proves to be equally unsettling as Ada's forced to navigate through a room completely surrounded in fog. Ada once again triggers a series of motion-sensored pings while running into zombies at unexpected moments in order to break the seal off the Solaris emblem key laying on the scanner and unlock the C2 door. However, Ada finds it sealed off by a vertical door as Creepers are awaiting her on the narrow end of the hall. Ada activates a switch that opens up a slide door, crushing them in the process while opening the vertical door leading to a new set of booby traps across the hall. Going through a combination of bone-crushing vertical automatic slide doors, laser wires and wall-mounted flamethrowers, Ada continues into the C3 hall after unlocking the emblem door with the Solaris artifact. With the next door locked via Hydra emblem, Ada collects 3 Hydra Head emblem keys. After proceeding through a maze-filled room surrounded in plastic sheets-wherein Pigheads, Mannequills and other horrific sights and creatures occasionally jump out at Ada after either breaking through or waiting in the hall on the other side-to obtain the first Hydra emblem key, Ada discovers a barren, devastated room, dubbed "The Hive" completely surrounded in silk webbing, literally resembling a hive. Ada searches and burries her way into a series of hidden tunnels-one of those being a Manta nest-with creatures awaiting her in order to activate a series of freezer generators until the hidden key becomes visible with Manta occasionally bursting out of the soot at random to attack her. Needing to find the last of the 3 Hydra Head emblem keys, Ada continues her exploration which takes her directly to a cryogenic chamber-like room, known as the Survivor Room. Walking through hallways lined with red smoke and test tubes, Ada is mesmerized when an Incubo randomly appears inside of a smoke-covered test tube and starts chasing her after breaking free. Ada flees from the Incubo and unlocks a secret door via control panel located at the other end of the hall. However, Ada is once again taken by surprised as it unlocks a zombie-infested hall. Running from both the zombies and Incubo, Ada proceeds into a secret door located at the end of the hall, having to carefully shoot and disarm a set of laser wires rigged with C4 and continuing into a dark room filled with monster holograms. Ada finds and activates the switch which deactivates the holograms and thereby resuscitating light, allowing her to find and proceed through the exit. Heading back into the foggy Survivor Room, Ada once again evades the zombie horde and Incubo in order to proceed through the unlocked hallway after luring the zombies from it. Ada grabs the last of the Hydra emblem keys and quickly exits the room, having to blaze by the zombies one last time. Unlocking the C3 door, Ada continues into the C4 block. After outrunning and outlasting Cadavra through laser trap halls-after trying to find the location of a woman being shown burned alive in a glass cell on CCTV footage from which Cadavra instead emerges-she eventually runs into Jill and Claire. After letting them into the main Control Room, Ada receives a call from Chet on her PDA. In an attempt to find out who Jessica is working for, he sends her into the surveillance room located on this hall. Using her passcode-stored INCryptor, she attempts to retrieve her data from the computer. Unfortunately, Alex had locked her out of the mainframe system using her self-aware Red Queen avatar. Upon receiving another call from Chet, he sends her on another hunt through the facility in an attempt to find and disable the Red Queen mainframe. In doing so, she sets off a new series of terrifying puzzles and traps set off by Alex's Red Queen avatar, having sealed off all password-protected doors. Having to endure halls and rooms filled with eerie sounds, shadows following Ada, dim lighting, mist and black dyes where Phantasm and live monsters appear/attack out of nowhere, invincible Phantasm girls randomly appearing out of thin air (bullets literally fly through them), rooms and halls transforming on a whim, hallucinatory monsters randomly appearing around corners before vanishing, "movement" around objects, Mannekills flying off of mannequins, monsters/B.O.W.s crawling out of hive-encased walls, entire rooms and hallways infested with invulnerable Phantasm girls (at one point, trying to break through a cage on the previously-empty other side of a magically-transformed room filled with TV monitors), burning Condemned busting out of a trap door, and a final puzzle which sees monsters/Phantasm girls jump out at Ada in night vision goggles in order to find a set of fingerprints, Ada manages to track down the Red Queen supercomputer after gaining entry via the fingerprint scanner. After finding and destroying the supercomputer linking her Red Queen avatar to the facility mainframe, Ada backtracks into the surveillance room, obtaining a set of audio tapes and files in an attempt to dig up dirt on the mysterious organization led by former Umbrella and Tricell operatives. Learning that they used samples retrieved from rival organizations as the basis for their bioweapons (Manta and Enchantress, respectively), Maximilian reveals that they are a part of Umbrella Corps, a mercenary unit sent to recover abandoned bioweapons from the original Umbrella. After relaying the leaked information to Chet, Ada starts slowly decoding the man's voice via logarithms using special in-house audio filtration equipment, believing the man to be Wesker or a familiar. However, as she inches closer to unlocking the man's true voice, she's chased out of the room by Baroness, who forces Ada to hide behind cover as she starts burning everything in her path. She chases Ada into a secret hallway where, after walking past some security cam footage, it is revealed that a human Alex Wesker first unveiled her plan to capture Jill and Claire following her rebirth to Jessica at her Watchtower during the latter's first trials, using her as a mole for finding the former's whereabouts. Moreover, Raymond and Jessica had operated the facility to test both the T-Incubo virus and Umbrella Corps subjects, using combat data acquired from Jill and Claire to implement a new breed of anti-bioweapon technology. At that moment, Baroness reappears, chasing Ada into a hidden dark room. After defeating Baroness, Ada backtracks through the hallway and exits the building leading straight into the missile base located outside the laboratory. Hacking her way into the Missile Base, Ada uncovers evidence of more hostages being detained with an Umbrella rival company's facility being based in uptown Rhysport, having a birdseye view of everything via satellite cams. After sending the information, Ada continues searching. She eventually discovers the viral missiles containing the T-Incubo virus and starts rigging them with looted proximity mines contained within the facility. Ada then proceeds into the Watchtower located outside the base. After rescuing the acting president, John Haggerton (presiding after the death of president Adam Benford), captured in an effort to avert a destruction of the soon-to-be-infected Rhysport, warns that his wife is within the city to which Ada responds "I know of a, shall I say colleague who might be of some service." Speaking in tongues, Ada continues throughout the Watchtower in an attempt to rescue their second hostage, TerraSave CEO, Alan Richter. During this time, a mysterious woman is seen caressing spore-like materials containing the embryonic B.O.W.s lying dormant in the embryonic lab, identifying them as "Hellings". Ada tracks Alan's location, but finds herself being double-crossed as she comes across none other than the mysterious masked woman inside the same room where he's being held prisoner by Umbrella security guards. Identifying herself as Varuda, the two do battle. However, Varuda overpowers Ada, showing super soldier-like reflexes. As a safe gap, Ada activates the bombs using the detonation device in her hands. Varuda retreats, during which time Ada is forced to evacuate the Tower within the 5 minute detonation sequence. Ada successfully flees the self-compromised Watchtower. However, the missile detonation attempt is ineffective as the missiles mysteriously launch against the rigged detonation sequence. Ada is forced to watch as the Rhysport skyline is shrouded in toxic viral clouds in the background. With Rhysport under attack, things take an ugly turn for the worse as an explosion goes off in the Watchtower. Proceeding back into the burning Watchtower, Ada finds the acting president's daughter, Michelle Haggerton being held prisoner inside of a cage. Ada frees Michelle as she's about to be burned alive and proceeds to call Chet for help inside the control booth. They are soon rescued by a B.S.A.A. chopper, greeted by none other than the new Alpha team member, Chet Allison. |
Epilogue |

Chet Allison and Kyle Calahan search the city streets of the infected Rhysport. They bypass hordes of infectees-turned zombies, horrific apparitions surrounded by massive clouds of viral hallucinogenic smoke, civilians screaming in mass panic while others are attacked and B.S.A.A. tanks and soldiers everywhere trying to stand guard and fight off hordes of zombies.
After briefly sticking together, Chet and Kyle split up in order to rescue the hostages being held captive by Umbrella Corps via the info retrieved by Ada Wong. While navigating through the city, they encounter t-Incubo-infected persons and viral smoke clouds creating horrific apparitions. Withstanding the outbreak, Chet enters the Aeolus Edge West pharmaceutical facility, completing puzzles in order to find and extract each of the workers being held hostage and obtain leads. Along the way, he discovers blueprints of B.O.W.s which had been replaced with those from the New Umbrella Research Facility via viles containing the C-Virus, encountering them (and infected scientists) head-on. Eventually learning that the Umbrella Corps agents have stolen retrieved samples of the t-Phobos and C-Virus from the facility and are attempting a terrorist plot within the city, Chet also uncovers the location of the final hostage. Backtracking through the city to reach the parking garage, he finds the last hostage being gagged inside a van while holding a detonator. Trying to retrieve the location of the bombs, the AEW worker sees hallucinations of HUNK in an Umbrella Corps uniform in Chet's place, having been injected with a concentrated form of the t-Incubo virus and detonates the bombs in a mass panic. Chet can only watch as buildings collapse under mass explosions in the distance. Having to reach the medical facility, Chet makes his way back onto the biohazard-swept streets of Rhysport. Along the way, the B.S.A.A. guards get sucked into pools of black liquid, causing them to encounter horrific mutant jellyfish underwater. Fighting his way back to the surface, they eventually encounter a hive filled with Hellings in the middle of the city as civilians are mutating into terrifying B.O.W.s known as Eradicators after being parasitically controlled by the embryonic parasite B.O.W.s which were implanted inside the missile bombs by Varuda. Fighting through the Eradicators, Chet makes his way inside the treatment facility. He ventures through the medical center, attempting to vaccinate as many infected civilians as possible, occasionally encountering Hellings and patients returning to life as Eradicators along the way. However, as he tries to get the antidote, he learns through fellow operative, Oliver Martin that the facility has been compromised, believing Umbrella Co. to have sent a plant within the facility. Venturing through the facility, he eventually again encounters Oliver in the hallway. However, he starts regurgitating as he's been infected with a dose of the C-Virus and T-Phobos while being injected with a Helling, turning into a horrific mutant bioweapon. Chet defeats Mutant Oliver and continues throughout the many corridors, eventually finding Umbrella Co. operative, Jessica, believing her to be the plant. However, mutant skin peels off of her flesh where he shoots her after being attacked and thrown to the ground by her, revealing it to be a C-Virus clone. After battling and defeating the Jessica doppleganger, she starts decaying, revealing her true identity hidden under the C-Virus-cloned mass. Identifying herself as Allie, she warns that her sister is being held prisoner at Rhysport University, to which Chet reveals that they've already sent someone to rescue her. As this is happening, Calahan travels throughout the western part of downtown Rhysport, encountering Manta escaping from the sewer and t-Incubo humans-turned zombies attacking civilians as his squad searches for the subway station where 5 of the other hostages are being held captive. Upon reaching the subway station through the front entrance, Calahan completes a series of puzzles and quests of his own, having to venture through the station and the darkened subway station tracks-filled with bioweapons, zombies, strobe lights and apparitions-to find, rescue and safely extract the hostages. Meeting back with his squad back at the city grounds, the B.S.A.A. agents safely unload them onto buses, but are caught by surprise as bombs go off nearby. Calahan is forced to relive the terror of the Terragrigia panic as he sees hallucinogenic flashbacks of the tragedy in place of the falling buildings, which end as soon as debris goes sweeping through. Running through the smoke cloud, he sees B.S.A.A. operative, Chad Henning in critical condition after being caught in the explosion. Calahan tries to tend to him, but is met with the rude awakening as a pair of giant claws pierce through his flesh, holding him high in the air before ripping his crippled body to pieces. Calahan desperately runs for his life through the smoke, having to evade the creature's swiping pincers and claws while running around its silhouetted figure. Making his way out of the smoke following a heart-pounding chase, he can only sit back and wait as the creature emerges through the smoke, revealing itself as a giant, mutant, multi-armed crab B.O.W. with 3 pincer tails. After disposing of Vishnu, Calahan continues West to the university, where the last of the hostages, Maria Haggerton, the acting President's daughter, remains captive. Making his way through the zombie-infested campus, he ventures through the University, completing horrific puzzles and exploration in search of the president's wife. Encountering zombies, Phantasm, Creepers, Incubo and Phantasm, he eventually finds Maria being held hostage inside the school medical center. He rescues and leaves with her, protecting her throughout the endangered streets of Rhysport as he goes to meet up with Chet back at the treatment facility. After safely escorting her back into B.S.A.A. custody-along with her sister-Chet calls the acting president and gets the OK to call in an air strike. The B.S.A.A. guards quickly evacuate the city before its devastation in order to prevent the infection from reaching New York City. Before long, they quickly hop on board a B.S.A.A. chopper and watch the explosion take down all of downtown Rhysport. |

Development[]
The game was announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2016 event as part of the Resident Evil 20th anniversary, and it would feature Jill, Claire and later Ada, the three series lead females, in a bonus campaign. It was later revealed that Silent Hill 2 director, Masashi Tsuboyama would co-direct the game similar to Guillermo Del Toro co-directing the cancelled Silent Hills along with Hideo Kojima.
In the months leading up to its release, Capcom released a number of trailers for each of the main characters following chilling teasers set to "Ring Around The Rosy" and "The Raven" narrated by Alex/Natalia's haunting girl voice. The first gameplay trailer features Jill, set to Metallica's "Sad But True" (ironically the name of her RE5 theme). Later, a second trailer, set to Marilyn Manson's "Sweet Dreams" featuring snippets of Claire's campaign was shown, followed by a third tape, "Ada" to the tune of Disturbed's "Down With The Sickness" featured in 2004's Dawn of the Dead remake.
At E3 2017, it was revealed that the game would feature a third person VR mode for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive users using 3D cinematic visuals. Lost in Nightmares Redux, a bonus first-person, P.T.-like game mode featuring weapons, combat, exploration and puzzles would also be fully-playable in VR.
