Need for Speed: ProStreet 2 (Abbreviated NFS:PS2 or NFS: ProStreet 2) is an upcoming racing video game in the Need for Speed series. It is the sequel to 2007's Need for Speed: ProStreet developed by EA Black Box and it will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Switch.
Synopsis[]
You are Dale Tanner, a young and relatively unknown--albeit very skilled--street racer who just recently finished serving time for it. While driving in your '67 Camaro (see the "Gallery" heading), you see a billboard advertising the newly-evolved ProStreet Racing League and quickly decide this league is your chance to make a name for yourself. It's about time the next Ryan Cooper presented himself.
Gameplay[]
Need for Speed: ProStreet 2 expands on the simcade-oriented, intellectual property established by its 2007 predecessor. Like its predecessor, players will progress through the game by completing dozens of showdown events called "Race Days" run by several racing organizations. The overall goal of the game is to individually challenge a number of elite racers called Kings. By beating every King, the player will be dubbed the ProStreet King and champion of the entire ProStreet Racing League.
Akin to its predecessor, each Race Day is comprised of a varying amount of races where the player must compete against AI opponents in order to earn points and cash. Points allow the player to unlock more challenging Race Days and cash allows the player to purchase and/or upgrade cars. Dominating Race Days award the player with even more points and cash, and in some cases, special promotion vehicles.
Players can highly customize any vehicle they purchase with vast assortments of visual and performance upgrades. However, the player should keep in mind that tuning the right vehicle for the right race mode is once again crucial toward the player's success in the game. In addition, cars can either be damaged and have their performance affected or completely totaled in accidents. In either case, the player must repair them with cash or repair tokens (the latter of which can be purchased during a Race Day or in the "Token Management" portion of the main menu).
Additional differences between the 2007 title and ProStreet 2 include night racing, a more dynamic weather system that includes rain and stronger wind, the inclusion of off-road racing and a more organic-sounding set of PA announcers, similar to the police from Need for Speed: Undercover.
Game Modes[]
There are 12 game modes prominently featured inside the game, with the bulk of the original game modes returning alongside new ones. Unless otherwise noted, each mode can feature up to ten racers at a time.
Returning Game Modes[]
- Grip - The ProStreet Racing League's equivalent of a standard circuit race. Regular Grip events range in length from two laps to five laps.
- Grip Class - The same as a regular Grip event, although the field of racers is split into two teams of different performance classes. Each team is made up of five racers. Like regular Grip events, Grip Class events range from two laps to five laps in length.
- Sector Shootout - A Grip race split into four sections with points awarded based on the racer's time driving through each section. Sector Shootouts are always three laps in length.
- Time Attack - A race where racers each attempt to post the fastest lap time possible. Time Attacks always feature up to four racers and are always three laps in length.
- Speed Challenge - The ProStreet Racing League's equivalent of a traditional sprint race. The courses are typically designed for racers to hit and maintain very high top speeds.
- Top Speed Run - A Speed Challenge where the overall objective is to record the highest accumulated speed total. Several checkpoints along the course record each driver's speed as he or she drives through them.
- Drag - Racers square off against each other in a three round, knock-out tournament. Two racers at a time race against one another to see who can finish either a 1/4 or 1/2 mile long straight route in the quickest time. Drag races require the use of manual gear changes in order for the player to be successful.
- Wheelie Competition - Racers square off against each other in a three round, knock-out tournament. Two racers at a time race against one another to see who can perform the longest distance wheelie on a 1/4 mile long straight route. Wheelie Competitions require the use of manual gear changes and nitrous in order for the player to be successful.
- Drift - Players take turns to see who can earn the most points by successfully sliding their car around a varying amount of corners along a set route.
New Game Modes[]
- Tandem Drift - A variant of the Drift mode where the player and an opponent drift around the course together at the same time. The three overall rounds remain the same, although each round is made up of two runs around the course. In the first run, the player is the lead car and drift scores are tallied normally. In the second run, the player is the trailing car and drift scores are tallied the same way, plus with a multiplier depending on how close the player is to the lead car. This event draws heavy inspiration from and functions similarly to the "Canyon Duel" event from Need for Speed: Carbon.
- Lap Eliminator - A variant of Grip where the racer in last place is eliminated from the race after each lap. This event is similar to the "Lap Knockout" event from previous Need for Speed titles. On long circuits, this event is always three laps long and features up to four racers at a time. On shorter circuits. this event is five laps long and features up to six racers at a time.
- Terrain Challenge - An antithesis to Speed Challenges, Terrain Challenges are sprint races that take place primarily off-road. Unlike Speed Challenges, courses are designed with many more turns, jumps and changes in elevation.

The game features a total of 21 locations where Race Day events are held. Most of the locations from the 2007 title return, although there are just as many new locations making their ProStreet Racing League debuts.

Trivia[]
- This is the second consecutive Need for Speed video game idea created by LoganC22, with the other one being Need for Speed: Most Wanted - Empire City.
- The "target time" secondary goal that appeared in the first ProStreet is absent from this game.
- Aside from Apex Glide, all thirteen other race teams and all fifty eight other vehicle customizations were created by LoganC22 using only NFS Heat Studio.
