Mountaineers is a 2018 mountain climbing simulator, featuring dozens of open world mountains to scale. The mountains used in-game range from mere hills to towering behemoths. Mountains are accurately recreated in the game through use of Google Earth and extensive research. The game is made by EB Industries.
Gameplay[]
The game is played with the player, playing as a mountain climber, attempting to reach the summit of a mountain. Players can use tools, vehicles, or chairlifts to assist in the climb. Players can die from falling, lack of food, water, or shelter, or of hypothermia. The game features a dynamic weather system, so the player never knows when a storm might hit. Other dangers include crevasses, avalanches, and mudslides. Some mountains can be climbed solo, or with a team. Others can be equiptment free or vehicle accessible.
Modes[]
Mountaineers consists of a story mode, freeplay mode, sandbox mode, and co-op story, sandbox, or freeplay mode.
Story Mode[]
Story mode consists of fictional climber Jean-Luc Pierre-Thomas trying to be the best climber in the world. To achieve this feat, Jean-Luc must climb various mountains until finally leading up to Mt. Everest and K2.
Freeplay Mode[]
Freeplay mode is where the player can climb any of the mountains in the. game without any objective or time limit. This mode is great for finding easter eggs scattered across the mountains.
Sandbox Mode[]
Sandbox Mode allows the player to create their own mountain with the Mountaineer Editor. Players can share their created maps via PlayStation Network or Xbox Live.
