Minecraft: Biome Settlers is a 2021 action-adventure game developed by Mojang Studios and published by Electronic Arts and Xbox Game Studios. A spin-off of the sandbox video game Minecraft, it is based on the Biome Settlers skin packs of the aforementioned game. The game's singleplayer tells the story of Gloria Ramos, a Mexican-American San Diego resident who is captured and taken to a massive area of land in the North Atlantic Ocean called Ingenti by the Forest Flatteners, a team led by Scottish team leader Lewis Sutherland who declares her as their eighth and final member, recruiting her in the process. Meanwhile, notorious Russian Nether Neutralizers leader Vladimir Petrov orchestrates a plot to take over the entire world. Gloria and the Forest Flatteners must track him down and save the world while coming face to face with different situations.
The gameplay is presented from either a third-person or first-person perspective. In the game's singleplayer, Gloria can freely roam around Ingenti to interact with characters, complete side missions, and so on.
Development for the game began in December 2018, and production was underway by May 2020. Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish released the song "Reputation" for the soundtrack on September 3, 2021.
It was released on October 1, 2021 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. It received positive reviews from critics, who praised its voice acting, narrative, gameplay, musical score, humor, visuals, the use of licensed songs, and action-packed single-player and multiplayer modes, with many deeming it a favorable mix of Minecraft, Call of Duty, and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.
Gameplay[]
Minecraft: Biome Settlers is an open world action-adventure game set in Ingenti (pronounced in-jen-tee), the biggest area of land in the center of the North Atlantic Ocean.
In the game's singleplayer, the player can only play as Gloria to freely roam around Ingenti to interact with other characters, complete side missions, and so on. The player can complete missions to earn coins in multiplayer; completing singleplayer on any difficulty via "This Is the End", the final mission, unlocks Vladimir Petrov, the main antagonist, for use as a playable character in multiplayer.
In the game's multiplayer, the player can take control of any character of eight teams. The five teams from singleplayer are included in multiplayer on the game's full release, while the Strangers DLC adds three new teams to the game; those new teams are the End Exterminators, the Farland Finishers, and the Ocean Overcomers. The player can reach ranks, level up their characters, and win (or lose) a game to earn coins to buy Supply Chests from a shop named "Dan's Market". Each Supply Chest contains three random items; for example, consumable allies known as Minions, whose rarities vary depending on the amount of minions; Rare or Ultra Rare character skins; Ultra Rare abilities such as the Potion Grenade and the Power Stomp; and, extremely rarely, Legendary characters such as Fabian Widmer. There are six rarities for these items by color; Common (green), Uncommon (blue), Rare (yellow), Ultra Rare (red), Special (white), and Legendary (purple).
