I have actually been a sprite artist since 1999. Some people might find it surprising, but I actually stick to MSPaint! Specifically MSPaint XP (mainly because I cannot seem to locate an MSPaint Vista). Transparency I do with GIMP 2.
In case you weren't aware, we are having the Game Idea Wiki Awards next month and we currently planning on the nominees for the event. If you are interested to put your ideas up for nomination, click here to comment which ideas you like to put in.
I have never tried spriting Fakémon before (though with that in mind, I did sprite for Pokémon Online during its alpha stages before its presumed cancellation). But I can definitely give it a try! Will you have concept art drawn for each of your pocket monsters?
Leafrog is just a leaf but with eyes, a tail and frog legs. Its two evolved forms are full regular frogs but they are stinky fighters.
Fillit is a tiny flaming unicorn with a flaming tail. Its evolved form Volcorn looks like Echo from Skylanders: Trap Team but in flaming unicorn form. Bursticorn looks like Princess Celestia from MLPFIM but in, again, flaming unicorn form but its got wings!
Swater is a lizard but with spikes resembling the Australian water dragon. Its evolved form Elecslide has thunderbolts on its hands and tail making it a Water/Electric type. Electragon is humanoid but with eel features on its arms, legs, head and tail. Swater, Elecslide and Electragon all have neon green eyes and are based on the Australian water dragon!
