Mario Kart: Overdrive is the 9th mainline console game in the Mario Kart series, and the 15th overall, it was released as a launch title for the Nintendo Nexus and serves as a technical showcase for the console, with enhanced graphics and a higher emphasis on speed.

Lightning Shrinks every other racer when used, causing them to drop their items and drive slower.

Fire Flower
Fire Flower Allows the racer who uses it to throw fireballs at other racers for a short period of time.
Boomerang Flower
Boomerang Flower Throws a boomerang that returns to its user after being thrown, can be used three times.

Bubble Flower
Bubble Flower Allows the racer that uses it to blow bubbles that trap any other racers that come into contact with them for a short period of time.

Boo
Boo Turns the racer who gets it invisible for a limited duration and steals an item from a random racer.

Star Makes the racer who gets it completely invulnerable for a short period of time.

Bob-Omb Explodes after being thrown or dropped, damaging any racers within its vicinity.
Super Leaf
Super Leaf Causes a tanooki tail to appear on a racer's kart, allowing them to use a spin attack which can be used to deflect items, knock back other racers, or collect coins.

Fake Item Box Damages any racer unfortunate enough to drive into it.
Double Cherry
Double Cherry Creates a clone of the racer who uses it, the clone then drives in a straight line and disappears when an item hits it, or just after a while.
Bullet Bill
Bullet Bill Turns the racer who uses it into a Bullet Bill, causing them to fly through the track at high speeds until it wears off.
SSBUD Piranha Plant
Piranha Plant Attaches itself to a racer's kart and chomps obstacles and other racers.
Super Horn
Super Horn Emits a large shockwave that hits other racers and destroys incoming projectiles (including the Spiny Shell) when used.
Super Bell
Super Bell Appears over the racer who uses it and rings three consecutive times, knocking back projectiles and nearby racers.
Oil Drum
Oil Drum Spills oil onto the track, causing racers that drive over it to slip like the Banana Peel, but it also temporarily makes their controls slippier.
Dash Ring
Dash Ring Allows the racer who uses it to throw three rings onto the track that give them a speed boost when driven through, it also allows them to ram into other racers.
