JoJo's Bizzare Adventure: Spirit of the Soul is a 2-D Fighting game created by Arc System Works and planned to be released in 2022 for the Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Similar to JoJo's Bizzare Adventure: Heritage for the Future, it is a traditional fighting game. The game uses a 1-on-1 system, where the players must decrease each others health bar whilst also using their special moves at their disposal and filling up their 'Heat Attack' Meter in order to unleash devastating attacks. Characters from Parts 3-8 are available, with characters from Part 1: Phantom Blood and Part 2: Battle Tendency being absent due to the 'Stand' system not being present in those parts.
Plot[]
Gameplay[]
JoJo's Bizzare Adventure: Spirit of the Soul is a 1-on-1 fighting game where each player must deplete each other's life bar before the timer runs out. It is very similar in style to Heritage for the Future, and shares many gameplay mechanics with it.
Stand Mode[]
Pressing the 'Stand' button will bring out your character's stand, allowing them to use it and gain access to several special moves. Without the Stand Mode active, your character will use basic and weak attacks. You can also turn your Stand on and off mid-attack to string together a unique combo.
Heat Attacks and Great Heat Attacks[]
Every character has a meter. It will fill under several conditions; attacking, being attacked or using special moves. Once it reaches Level 1, you can unleash a powerful Heat Attack. When it reaches Level 2, you can unleash a slightly more powerful version of your Level 1 Heat Attack. Once your meter reaches Level 3, you can unleash a unique and different attack called a Great Heat Attack, which will deal immense damage. However, keep in mind that once you use a Heat Attack or Great Heat Attack, your meter will reset back to Level 0, no matter what Level Heat Attack you just used.
Part 3: Stardust Crusaders[]
Jotaro Kujo: Freezes time for 3 seconds using Star Platinum: The World. During stopped time you can use any attack to beat your opponent.
Joseph Joestar: A counter Great Heat Attack. Joseph will pose, and if he is hit he will say "Your next line is!" and then say a unique piece of dialogue relating to that character. The opponent will then repeat that line and be shocked. Meanwhile Joseph will grab the opponent with Hermit Purple and conduct a bunch of Hamon through it, electrocuting the opponent.
Noriaki Kakyoin: Heirophant Green will move about the stage, creating a barrier and trapping the opponent inside. After they are trapped, Heirophant will unleash a powerful Emerald Splash on the opponent, sending them flying.
Muhammed Avdol: Magician's Red will unleash its signature Crossfire Hurricane Special that will travel across the stage and ignite your opponent.
Jean Pierre Polnereff: Silver Chariot sheds its armour and slashes your opponent many times before finishing them with a final stab.
Iggy: The Fool shapeshifts into a large mountain of sand and charges forward. Iggy then launches himself through the sand before biting the opponent on the nose.
Characters with Special Mechanics[]
Certain characters have special gauges and mechanics which make them unique.
Guido Mista: Has a Sex Pistols and Ammo gauge, showing how many remaining Sex Pistols and bullets you have left before you have to reload.
Enrico Pucci: Has a C-Moon gauge with 14 levels. If you activate the 'DIO's Diary' move, then Pucci will start reading the 14 words from it. Every time a word is read the gauge will fill up by 1 level, and when you reach level 14, Whitesnake will evolve into the powerful C-Moon.
Johnny Joestar: Johnny will always start off battles on his trusty horse, Slow Dancer. By pressing the 'Stand Mode' button, Johnny will dismount his horse and go on the ground, which allows him to use his stand, Tusk, among other special moves. If you press the 'Stand Mode' button again, Johnny will get back on his horse.
Gyro Zeppeli: Gyro will always start battles on his horse, Valkyrie. By pressing the 'Stand Mode' button, Gyro will dismount his horse and go on the ground, which allows him to use his stand, Ball Breaker, among other special moves such as his Spin. If you press the 'Stand Mode' button again, Gyro will get back on his horse.
Tooru: Tooru has a 'Calamity' meter, which can reach up to 3 levels. It is filled once you take significant damage from your opponent. Once it reaches a level, you can use your 'Calamity Moves', which are extremely powerful special moves. These may involve a plane door falling from the sky, various objects crashing into you or even a razor sharp leaf cutting you.
