Voshkod enters a new front[]
When the Socialist Union of Voshkod began its march to Thedas in 1954 V.C., one year after declaring war on and marching to Aquila, there was no united front against the Voshkod Offensive except for a web of alliances held over from the imperial and post-Hawke War days of Thedas, Aselia and Europa. When Gallia was brought to battle, Ironforge was obliged to join in, which in turn brought Orlais, Edinburgh, Athel Loren and Aselia into the war, and so forth. However, the vast disparities between equipment, ammunition, strategy and philosophy almost brought the newly united powers to their knees before Garlean's army.
Setback after setback plagued the armies of Thedas, Aselia and Europa; Ironforge was still limited to a hundred thousand men, Athel Loren insisted that their tanks remain attached to defense of their forest homes, Vinland refused to fight altogether unless highly specific and hopelessly obsolete obligations were met in their treaties. All the while the Voshkod Army pushed deeper west, gaining huge amounts of territory and easily routing the lackluster defense presented by the backward and inexperienced Thedas, Aselian and Europan forces.
They were saved by Carver Hawke's radical decision to bring Ferelden out of its self-imposed isolation and into the war effort. Hawke resurrected an old idea from his predecessor, Elizabeth Kirkwall, tentatively called the Alliance, with a more warlike attitude. A new Alliance, more closely knit than any other, with one army and one purpose, to stand united. With Gallia overrun and Ironforge rapidly falling to the Voshkod juggernaut, the writing on the wall was clear for leaders of seven nations.
The Hawke Treaty[]
By the signing of the historic Treaty of Hawke in 1955 V.C. by the eight founders of the Alliance of Hawke: Orlais' Celene Valmont I, Ferelden's Carver Hawke, Aselia's Mileena Weiss, Ironforge's Magni Bronzebeard, Athel Loren's Vathakaec, Edinburgh's Simon Haddock and Gallia's Cordelia Gi Randgriz; a complete restructuring of the various armies into a united combat force, a steel fighting machine to stand against the might of Garlean's empire in their own home.
