Donald Morden is the leader of the Rebel Army and serves as the main antagonist for many of the Metal Slug games.
Profile[]
In the past, he was a good person. However, his personality changed greatly when his daughter and wife were killed, turning him insane. He is now a vengeful and angered person. Upon seeing the player, he often laughs in a mocking tone.
Story[]
In Metal Slug 8, Donald Morden is struggling to prevent large Regular Army uprisings across the globe. While overseas in Eastern Europe, he is furious to hear that his home capital, Mordenia, in Canada has been captured by Regular forces. He is furious when Abigail creates a large coup as his Eastern Europe headquarters are bombarded by the Regular Army.
Unable to escape, he is placed in custody, but eventually joins the Regulary Army to fight Abigail's deviant forces. Secretly, he is the mastermind of the resurrected Amadeus Syndicate, where the Doctor leaves him a huge robot machine in a secret lair on Earth. However, White Baby eventually activates, taking over Donald's Mordens control of the machine. Eventually, the robot is destroyed, sending it flying into the Amadeus Space Satelite. Morden and rebel soldiers attempt to escape in a rocket ship to head back to Earth, but the explosion sends them flying off in the wrong direction. He vows that he will come back with a vengeance to crush Abigail's forces.
Donald Morden and his troops land on a foreign planet and are quickly trapped and apprehended by a large coalition of Martians and Ptolemaic members. Ptolemaios creates a fake alien copy of Morden to draw the Regular Armies attention to destroy a large Rebel colony to make it easier for his invasion to proceed. The real Morden is enslaved, but the Professor manages to help Morden escape. Eventually, Morden gets the upper hand, stealing the Elder One's crystal and taking control of the Elder One. With his new found power, he mercissely kills Yoshino with a large burst of energy. He flies back to Earth with it, attempting to recapture Mordenia, but is brutally beaten by a massive coalition of forces.
Bloodied from battle, Morden attempts to flee, but is caught by an enraged Allen O Neil who punches him into the rocket, sending him flying back into space. However, he manages to survive, as a life-sustaining ice crystal enwraps in space.
In this game, there are two alternative endings to the game. Either General Morden is killed, or he sacrifices himself to save the world from the evil warlord known as Emperor Morden.
In this game, Morden was sent hurtling out into space, passing many alien planets at lightspeed. He was eventually caught by Marco and the Regular Army, but they were wearing Rebel Insignia. He was taken into custody and confronted by the alternate dimension counterpart of Morden, Emperor Morden who had conquered galaxies with his super powerful Neo Rebel Army.
With an evil grin, General Morden agreed to help Emperor Morden in order to conquer his home universe. However, once that was done and all resistance was crushed, he would try and take control of the forces for himself. If Morden was saved by Abigail and Trevor, then Morden decides to reunite with Abigail to take down the evil dictator Emperor Morden. In this case, he saves Abigail and many other lives by sacrificing himself to defeat Emperor Morden at the very end. As Emperor Morden dies, the Regular Army undergoes an escape sequence to escape the battleship before it explodes. Morden is critically injured and taken to Earth for treatment. He holds a picture of his wife and daughter in his hand as he finally breaths his last breath. (If the player has not used a continue, Morden barely survives)
If Morden was not saved, he becomes wrathful and full of rage, planning a worldwide extermination, including children and infants. He kills Emperor Morden and creates an ultimate weapon to conquer the world. By doing so, he turns the Earth into a dystopic urban wasteland, killing millions in the process. He appears in an ultimate war machine to battle the Regular Army. He serious hurts Trevor, and Abigail sacrifices herself to defeat the machine. Beatriz and Trevor mourns her death. The world quickly breaks out into many terror activities as a result, and Earth will never be at peace.
