Compile Heart vs. Capcom 2: Fight for The Dreams (コンパイルハート vs. カプコン 夢のために戦う, Konpairuhāto vs. Kapukon Yume no tame ni tatakau), or simply Compile Heart vs. Capcom 2 is a crossover fighting game developed by Capcom in collaboration with Compile Heart. The game features characters from both Capcom's video game franchises and Compile Heart's video game franchises (including Date A Live). It is the 12th installment of the Versus series and it was a sequel to Compile Heart vs. Capcom: The Dimensions Crisis. It was released worldwide for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows on June 15, 2023.

An updated version, known simply as Ultimate Compile Heart vs. Capcom features new characters, new stages, and updated gameplay. It was released on November 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows.

Like the original Compile Heart vs. Capcom, players can fight in a select a team of three characters to engage in combat and attempt to knock out their opponents. It features similar tag team game mechanics to earlier games in the series, along with new methods of play designed to make the game more accessible to new players.

Gameplay[]

The game uses the same tag-team format previously employed in Compile Heart vs. Capcom: The Dimensions Crisis. In addition to all the features introduced, the player can now summon their partner to perform one of their special moves without changing their currently-controlled character.

All Compile Heart characters and Capcom characters from the previous game returned, with new characters appeared.

Like in X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, the single-player mode consists of matches against other tag-teams and a two-on-one fight against Ultron Sigma.

Color Edit Mode also made returned as players are still able to color skin, hair, and all layers of clothes.

Like the original Compile Heart vs. Capcom and the PlayStation 1 game of Kamen Rider Ryuki, the health would reaches low for either character, the song "BURN IT DOWN" will play,

Story[]

A months after the defeat of Abyss, peace in every dimensions was restored until Ultron Sigma (the main antagonist from Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite), unleashed an evolved form of the Sigma Virus on nearly every dimensions to infect the population and turn them into cyborgs under his control.

May Esperio discovered the Sigma Virus in her dimension as she made contact with Kanata and Rizelea, travelled to every dimensions, and then warned the heroes and villains from the two camps who were fighting amongst themselves. Together, they must stop this new nemesis before every Dimensions are took over by Ultron Sigma and his armies of cyborgs.
