A sequel called Compile Heart vs. Capcom 2: Fight for The Dreams, was released worldwide for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows on June 15, 2023.

An updated version, known simply as Ultimate Compile Heart vs. Capcom features new characters, new stages, and updated gameplay. It was released on November 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows.

In Compile Heart vs. Capcom, players can fight in a select a team of three characters to engage in combat and attempt to knock out their opponents. It features similar tag team game mechanics to earlier games in the series, along with new methods of play designed to make the game more accessible to new players. The game was produced by Mike Evans, who had previously worked on Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, which also utilizes Unreal Engine 4. In addition to more gameplay modifications and new playable characters, the game features several aesthetic changes.

Gameplay[]

The gameplay mechanics of the game are reminiscent of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Similar to Street Fighter × Tekken, there is also a "Customize Color" option and "Scramble Mode" battle, where all four chosen characters battle at the same time in their respective teams, reminiscent of the Street Fighter Alpha.

Color Edit Mode, which was last seen in Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001 and Street Fighter × Tekken, has also returned; players are able to color skin, hair, and all layers of clothes.

When health reaches low for either character, the song "Somebody To Love Remix" will play in the similar fashion and way to the PlayStation 1 game of Kamen Rider Ryuki.

Connection wtih Type-Moon vs. Capcom Theory[]

9 days after the release of Type-Moon vs. Capcom fans have theorize that Type-Moon vs. Capcom is a prequel or connection to Compile Heart vs. Capcom due to the game being implied to be prequel to Capcom previous game, in one of Saber's victory quote on Jedah in Compile Heart vs. Capcom she said "I will stop you from creating a new dimenson at all cost" however Capcom confirm this theory as for release of Type-Moon vs. Capcom: The Ultimate Edition in Emiya Shirou's ending, it is implied that he fought Fang from Fairy Fencer F during the events of Type-Moon vs. Capcom, this explain why Neptune was arrive on Japan during Ryu's travels at to point of this, Jedah was the mastermind of these events have occur, with Abyss has no involvement with Jedah since he is the Final Boss in Compile Heart vs. Capcom.

Note[]

  • Several of the announcer's pre-match lines are allusions to other Capcom games:
  • This is the first Capcom fighting game since Street Fighter IV to not have "true" dual audio. Instead, most characters speak Japanese, while a select few are voiced by English voice actors.
  • Unfortunately, there is no stages for Trillion: God of Destruction, Omega Quintet, and Devil May Cry.
  • This the first and only Compile Heart game to be release on Xbox Series X|S.
  • Originally, the final boss of the game was going to be Keyaru from Redo of Healer, however the position was given to Abyss from Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes instead. The reason for this was because Capcom deeply regretted what they did to Abyss in Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. Therefore to make up for what they did, gave him a position in Compile Heart vs. Capcom as its final boss and show the player how serious a threat he is to the characters.
    • The real reason why Keyaru didn't appeared as a guest character nor to be mid boss aside from Abyss is because due to Light Novel and anime adaptation of Redo of Healer being controversial as the anime adaptation of Redo of Healer garnered controversy due to its depiction of extreme violence, gratuitous amounts of sexual content and rape, and other content such as the treatment of female characters, cannibalism, slavery, and torture, all elements often being used as a plot device, especially in the first two episodes. Producers Naoko Mizuno and Yoshinori Ono felt that adding Keyaru from Redo of Healer would lead game controversial, as for both Compile Heart and Capcom have prevented the game being controversial by not adding Keyaru.
