To date, there have been sixteen video games developed and published, with more properties in development. Since 2020, the company has experienced positive reception for its games and it has achieved mainstream and commercial recognition and success, with nominations in every Game Ideas Awards since then and wins in the Awards since 2021.
History[]
Catch 22 Studios was founded by LoganC22, a game developer and former DJ and musician on December 14th, 2019. According to him, inspiration for the name came from his username and from the 1961 novel "Catch-22" by Joseph Heller.
The company was founded to be primarily a developer of racing games and properties; this was because LoganC22 grew up on this genre and had often wondered how games would look if different and innovative elements were incorporated into their final products. As of 2022, the company has shifted its focus by slowly adopting non-racing genres into its production pitches.
Development Structure[]
Originally when it was established, Catch 22's development process consisted of one Development Suite referred to within the company as a "Planning & Production Suite". This Suite was made up of two individual development groups, with LoganC22 leading said groups as lead developer and soundtrack curator. Under LoganC22's direction, games were developed with both himself and the development groups sharing ideas, technologies and expertise with and delegating tasks to one another in plenty of advance and during the development stage.
This structure proved to be a success for a while, with the company producing games at a rapid turnout. However, the one Development Suite started to develop burnout from said turnout, resulting in two consecutive games receiving mixed to negative reviews from consumers and critics. In response to this, LoganC22 decided to change the company's production strategy. This new strategy included the creation of a second Development Suite in 2022, and a policy that the company starting in 2022 make only three games per year at a maximum in order to alleviate burnout and stress across the board. Today, LoganC22's direction remains the same, but with the second Suite now involved in the development process.

Future Games[]
Announced[]
Game Title | Publisher | Release Date | Systems Available |
---|---|---|---|
Need for Speed Roughnecks | Electronic Arts | 2025 | Unknown |
- Need for Speed Roughnecks - A future new entry in the Need for Speed franchise, Roughnecks is an Idea described by LoganC22 as "what NFS would look like if it went back in time". The game is to include, according to him, a story set in the late 1970's and emphasize classic car culture, while still having physics similar to those from modern NFS titles. According to LoganC22, Roughnecks will be his second attempt at a NFS title set in a different time period, after his ideas for one in 2023 failed to come to fruition. It has been confirmed for release in 2025 as part of LoganC22's five year anniversary celebration block on Fandom as the finale of that block.
Unannounced/Potential[]
- Need for Speed: Extreme Heat - On April 28th 2025, LoganC22 was made aware of a future Need for Speed Idea to be made by Skyrish19, the creator of the action RPG Idea Fallout: The Traveler and the 2021 Game Ideas Wiki "Writer of the Year" award winner. Titled Need for Speed: Extreme Heat, the Idea is described on their profile as a "expanded/re-imagined version of Need For Speed: Heat", a 2019 installment in the Need for Speed series developed by Ghost Games. Billed as a "first to be" collaboration, LoganC22 expressed his desire to collaborate on the project, stating "Let's make this happen!". It is unknown when the title will release as it will be Skyrish's decision.

Cancelled Games[]
- Midnight Club: Lone Star - Announced in the fall of 2021, Midnight Club: Lone Star would have been released in 2022 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S & Microsoft Windows. It would have been a sequel to 2008's Midnight Club: Los Angeles, and it would have featured the protagonist from that game in an aiding role similar to Karol from MCLA. Although it was announced, the game was pushed back by delays and the releases of Need for Speed War & Rocket League: Xtreme. Eventually, the game was permanently scrapped on April 15th, 2023 after a year and a half with no progress and its slot in the lineup was replaced by Victory, Inc. Despite the cancellation, Catch 22 still has a partnership with Rockstar Games for a potential property in the future. As of 2024, their partnership will come to fruition with the release of the upcoming The Warriors: Fresh Blood later in the year.
- Project Velocity (Reboot) - Although never announced publicly, the game was listed under LoganC22's "Potential/Future" heading on his profile. The title was up on his profile from July to December 2022 when it was removed then by him effectively cancelling the game. There was never any mention of what consoles the game would have been available for, but according to LoganC22, it was to be an updated reboot of the cancelled 2006 game of the same name developed by Visual Science. The cancellation was the result of developmental differences and a failure to secure a deal with Visual Science.
- SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab 2 - Early in Winter 2024, LoganC22 expressed interest In developing a sequel to the 2006 THQ game SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab. According to him, the proposed sequel would have been as dark as the original and lean more toward the horror aspect of SpongeBob. There were to be “levels” in the forms of dreams like in the first game, and there were at least two that were confirmed. SpongeBob’s dream was to feature several zombified clones of Squidward, and Squidward’s dream was to be a near-total adaptation of the creepypasta “Saturn’s Maw” by JunoTehPlanet. The game was cancelled originally for unknown reasons with no explanation, but LoganC22 later revealed that it was due to both creative difficulties and his own hesitancy toward executing such a horror-focused project after “I couldn’t stop having vivid nightmares about it. Apparently, I was going to make it too dark even for me.”
- Fallout: Blood and Emeralds - In Spring 2024 and in wake of the success of Amazon Prime Video’s series of the same name, LoganC22 expressed interest in developing a potential entry in Bethesda Softwork’s Fallout franchise. In a poll he posted on Fandom, Fallout was listed as a candidate for which non racing franchise he should've tackled after the upcoming The Warriors: Fresh Blood. On June 2nd, 2024, Fallout was officially chosen, beating out Grand Theft Auto & Battlefield. On July 4th, LoganC22 officially revealed that the title for his entry would've been Fallout: Blood and Emeralds. He also revealed the game would've been the second chronologically after 2018's Fallout 76. It would've been the third non-racing game developed, after 2024's The Warriors: Fresh Blood and would've been released in 2025 as part of LoganC22's five year anniversary celebration on Fandom. However, on March 9th 2025, the studio scrapped the project due to creative difficulties. The following week, LoganC22 announced that Monster Jam: Metalstorm will take its place.
