Premise[]

Gameplay[]

Catastrophe is a top-view perspective FPS

Settings[]

  • Starting Credits - changes how many continues you begin with.
  • Generosity - How often you are rewarded an extra credit.
  • Difficulty - How brutal the enemy AI could be.
  • Damage - How much damage Wendell should receive.

Tropes[]

  • Continue Countdown: The continue screen has Wendell in an emblem, on life support (actually this is just a reference to the credits of the Finale of St. Elsewhere), there are two options, "Rise Up" and "Give Up", choosing the former (and using one credit/life in the process) causes the emblem to explode and Wendell walking from the left , choosing the latter (or let the timer run out) will make Wendell flatline, and it's Game Over, hurry up though, you only have 20 seconds.
  • Continuing is Painful: every time you continue, you lose 100,000 points, and you are set back to a checkpoint, with only your pistol, the latter is justified as Wendell has to regain his stuff from his previous corpse, which.
  • Game Over: Fail to continue in the said screen, Wendell flatlines, if you don't have credits to begin with (either you ran out or began with only zero), and it's just Wendell flatlining (the game is merciful enough not to give you the Flatline sound like it does when you don't continue normally)
  • Every 10,000 points: you get an extra credit at various milestones, depending on the Extra Credit Leniency settings.
  • Multiple Health Bars: in the style of Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure, Wendell has two bars (he can have up to four).
  • Robbing The Dead: Justified, since Wendell has to get all his stuff from where he died back from the said corpse.
  • Video-Game Lives: While you don't have actual lives (although Multiple Life Bars, you have credits to continue after you die, by default settings, you begin with 3 credits, but you can set up to 9, once you beat the game, you will unlock the option to have infinite continues.
