Cat Alexander Explore (known as 世界を巡るキャット・アレクサンダー/Sekai o meguru kyatto arekusanda (roughly translates to "Cat Alexander Around The World" in Japan)
Premise[]
Gameplay[]
The Game Had 12 Worlds with six levels on it, with the sixth being a boss
Soundtrack and Development[]
(PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS ALL FICTIONAL/IMAGINARY, WELL, THE ENTIRE WIKI IS MOSTLY SUPPOSED TO BE FICTIONAL/IMAGINARY, MAKING YOUR GAME IDEAS REAL IS YOUR CHOICE)
The Game started development in 1992 alongside Cat Alexander's World Of Fairly Odd Tales, the difference is that Cat Alexander's World Of Fairly Odd Tales only had 18 people working on it with a 1993 deadline, while Cat Alexander Explore had 43 people working on it.
Among the fourty three people working on Cat Alexander Explore was no other than Rick Astley, a british singer.
Astley is a big fan of ProtoGame, owning a ProtoGame Quadriple, and cartridges of the first three Cat Alexander games (and a few more cartridges of Quadriple ports of ProtoGame's arcade games), he was childhood friends with a ProtoGame developer, so when his friend told him he's working on a new Cat Alexander project, Astley accepted to offer himself to work with the composers, which the composers agreed.
Following Cat Alexander Explore's release, Rick Astley had temporarily retired from the music industry several weeks prior to the game's release due to Astley wanting to focus on family life.
Trivia[]
TVTropes[]
YMMV[]
- Even Better Sequel: It's considered the Pinnacle of Classic Cat Alexander games, almost always getting 1st place in being the best 2D Cat Alexander game.
- Fan Nickname: Cat Alexander Explore is passionately given the nickname by fans as "The Sonic 3 & Knuckles of Cat Alexander", due to both games being Sacred Cows (criticizing either even in the slightest will give you a significant amount of blowback) and having a musician contributing for the game (Michael Jackson for Sonic 3, Rick Astley for Cat Alexander Explore).
- Memetic Mutation:
- Alexander Forestail/Cat Alexander/Alex/ProtoGame rickrolled us before it was cool
- the theme song of the game turned into this thanks to LG's rendition for the theme getting remixed a handful of times.
- Sacred Cow: Much like Sonic 3, Criticism even in the smallest (even if you give it less than S-Tier praise) leads to you recieiving blowback.
