The Yami Musume is one of the factions in Artistic Forces.

As the name of this faction suggests, Yami Musume (kanji: 闇娘, hiragana: やみむすめ, furigana:
Description[]

A shadowy, mysterious all-female paramilitary faction known as the Yami Musume have forgotten their honorable ways and have resorted to the ties of darkness, yandere, mind control, assassination, and anything they devoted for, including their only goals: to purportedly purge the world of sin and corruption, and spread a new morality to everyday life by conquering the world. Unlike Josei Guntai, which is their counterpart that always disdain the traits of yandere, but instead they have learned their ways to employ its use of stealthy stalking, cerebral psychic powers (including mind-control), magnetic weaponry, poisonous, biological, and unconventional weapons, and other forms of deadly fighting arts and devious military tactics that inspire those of the Imperial Japan, such as Kamikazes or suicide bombers, in order to uphold innovation towards killing efficiency. Even though the Josei Guntai knew how to use military weapons, except the unconventional ones, it was the Yami Musume which uncovered its secrets. Their factional membership consists of Sukeban, Bosozoku, yanderes, irregular militias, a fanatical Japanese cult, various Yakuza-esque girls and a renegade Japanese military offshoot they certainly hired, including the rogues. On the other hand, they show no fear and no remorse to those who really are against their will, including sinful people, and their single-minded devotion for the formation of a new morality to the world gives them protection against their foes who have been sent to destroy.

Strategy[]
The Yami Musume is a shadowy, all-female, Japanese-influenced paramilitary and cult, formed shortly by yanderes, irregular militants, Sukeban, Bosozoku, fanatics, and a renegade Japanese military offshoot, with their goals of purging the world of sin and establishing a new morality. They develop their own weapons research through a variety of chemicals and unconventional, exotic, biological, and unseen technologies like psionics and magnetic weapons. At some point, the Yami Musume has headquartered there in Teikyo, the capital city of the zaibatsu-ruling Saigoku, their home country located in Eastern Animatopia or the continent of Orientashia, and established their base from which their ultimate psychic weapon is to be constructed.
Yami Musume operates as a Japanese-influenced paramilitary cult focused on psionics, magnetic weaponry, and biochemical warfare. Their primary strategic goal is to overwhelm enemies using mass numbers, technological superiority, and psychological warfare through mind control.
Tactics[]
The Yami Musume is most notorious for their yandere, sneaky, chemical, biological, mind-control, assassination, and brainwashing techniques, including kamikaze attacks, which inspire Imperial Japanese tactics. They used many deadly, unconventional and psychic units like the Psychos, the Psionic Novices, the Psionic Adepts, the Psionic Mistress herself, the Psionic Tanks, the Psionic Saucers, the Psionic Seizers, and the Mind Control Tower. Their commanders would use these to convert the minds of enemy units into their friends to fight against each other for their bidding as a threat to every freedom of thought. If powerful units were mindfully possessed, then they would fight for them to help defend their base. Mind-controlled units could also be detonated by the Psionic Adepts and Psionic Tanks, and brought into a Grinder for extra funding, supplementing the income from economical structures and units. In addition to their yandere tactics, the Yami Musume is known for the kidnapping and abduction of the injured enemy infantry units, using the Caretakers and Caretaking POW Trucks, and sending them to the insides of the Caretaking Center, which is commonly used for imprisoning, collecting and containing abducted/kidnapped enemy infantry, and healing friendly infantry units, Aside from that, they instead heal nearby friendly infantry units, acting as the "medics" of the Yami Musume, including the Caretaking Ambulances as a prime example.
Like the Oarcks, who utilize their conventional and unconventional weapons and war machines instead of just German-made military assets from Interwar Period to WWII in their array for their military might, the Yami Musume has a wide arsenal of not just the modern Japanese military equipment, especially the ones that were used by the Imperial Japanese Armed Forces (Imperial Japanese Army and Imperial Japanese Navy) from a timeline between the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Pacific War, which was a part of the Second World War, but the conventionally and unconventionally made assets based on their research, most notably from the sci-fi-themed works. The exact examples of these assets are Magnetron Tanks, which is used for decreasing the speed of enemy units vulnerable to magnetic weapons to become immobilized, the Caretaking POW Truck, which are used for healing nearby friendly infantry units, abducting injured enemy infantry units, and bringing them to the Caretaking Center, and crushing them upon colliding with a grinder, and Yuufo Saucers, which are used for disabling enemy power plants or defenses through an insufficient level, looting an amount of funds from the enemy resource-collecting buildings, and abducting one enemy infantry unit.
In summary, Yami Musume is a ruthless faction that blends psionics, assassination, and unconventional warfare to dominate their enemies through psychological and technological superiority.
Technological level[]
The technology of the Yami Musume is as unconventional as their military doctrine that employs a mix of historical Japanese military assets and highly advanced sci-fi-inspired technologies. The following is a list of their notable technological breakthroughs:
- Psionics: Used for mind control, mental attacks, and battlefield manipulation.
- Stealth Technology: Many units can become invisible when stationary.
- Chemical & Biological Weapons: Poison-based attacks and bioweapons.
- Magnetic & Anti-Gravity Tech: Used for immobilizing enemies and aerial dominance.
- Cloning & Genetic Modification: Allows for rapid unit production.
- Dissolver Beams & Armor Rupturing Weapons: Advanced energy-based weapons.
- Aerospace Superiority & Lethal Experimental Technology: Highly advanced air and space combat capabilities.

Sub-factions[]
The Yami Musume has only one sub-faction, which is a psychic branch of the Kuki Network.
Kuki Network[]
Consisting of yanderes who managed to suppress their murderous intent, and therefore have an easier time appearing averagely "normal", the Kuki Network uses subtle psionic powers, mainly influencing the mind from making them harder to detect to gaslighting their targets, giving them greater intelligence gathering ability and debuff capacity, allowing them to constantly stalk where their foe is and plan two steps ahead, waiting for the right moment to kill.

Trivia[]
- Yami Musume is factionally influenced by Abyssal Fleet from Kantai Collection, the Sirens and the Sakura Empire (under the Crimson Axis) from Azur Lane, Yandere, Imperial Japanese Armed Forces, Sisters Repentia from Warhammer 40k, House Escher from Necromunda, Yuri from Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, Epsilon from Mental Omega, and carious elements of the Japanese delinquent culture (Bosozoku, Sukeban, and Yakuza).
- The Yami Musume is one of the only two factions with flowers in their factional emblems, the other is the Josei Guntai.
- Black lotus, also called Kokuren or Kurobasu (黒蓮), is a factional emblem of the Yami Musume.
- The lotus plant has thematic significance to the Yami Musume:
- The lotus is a flower that floats on water and exhibits a self-cleansing property known as the lotus effect. However, this factional symbol of the Yami Musume is considered ironic as the black lotus itself symbolizes darkness, death, sophistication, power, authority, and rebellion much like the Imperial Japanese Military did during Second Sino-Japanese War and World War II as well as cleansing the world of sin and establishing a new morality, brainwashing their enemies into their new friends, and even committing suicide like the kamikaze units do.
- In Buddhism, the symbolism of the lotus represents spiritual purity as it grows from murky water but emerging untainted, making it a metaphoric achievement of enlightenment in the world. As it takes on various spiritual meanings, every floral color has its own unique symbolism. However, the black lotus is somewhat of a mystery.[references 1]
- Also, the petals of the lotus flower have natural colors, ranged from white to purple, plus black. These colors, including magenta as one of the shades of color purple, visually fit the factional theme of the Yami Musume: many units and personnel of the Yami Musume are anime-faced Caucasians, some of them wore black uniforms, especially the sailor-styled school uniforms, and magenta is the official team color of the Yami Musume.
- The Yami Musume is one of the few factions in Artistic Forces that keep their original Japanese names untranslated, the other ones are Josei Guntai, Kemonomimi, and Kaijin Gundan, with the next two being Kyoudai Gundan and Zaibatsu Teikoku.
- The Yami Musume is one of the 3 factions whose factional personnel are all-female only with their inspiration of the "Ladies First" trope. However, since they have their original Japanese names, these factions are all monolingual, with Japanese as their officially factional language, as well as some factions, like the all-American U.S.S.D.A. or A.D.A, with American English as their dominantly official and de facto language.
- As the one and only official language of the Yami Musume, the Japanese language is commonly used for their yandere behavior, aesthetics, and tactics as well.
- The goals of purging the world of sin and establishing a new morality across the world are directly inspired by those of the Sisters Repentia from Warhammer 40k, the Rabu from Carrier Air Wing, and the Imperial Japan's politically imperialistic, militaristic and nationalistic slogan known as Hakkou ichiu ("eight crown cords, one roof", i.e. "all the world under one roof"), which was divinely and rightfully destined to "unify the eight corners of the world" and adopt expansionist policies to establish a continental dominion over Asia and the Pacific. In fact, this Japanese slogan was popularized in a speech by Prime Minister Fumimaro Konoe on January 8, 1940, and became prominent from the Second Sino-Japanese War to the Second World War.
- Just like the Nazis in Europe as well as the rest of the Axis Powers, this inspiration of the Yami Musume was also infamous that the Empire of Japan, especially the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy, had atrociously committed heinous war crimes as well as crimes against humanity and other wartime atrocities during the imperial expansion in China, the Second Sino-Japanese War, and World War II, most notably the Mukden Incident, which led to the establishment of the Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo, the Nanjing Massacre, Sook Ching, the Bataan Death March, the Attack on Pearl Harbor, and the experiments of Unit 731. These atrocities are estimated and ranged from 3 to 14 million through mass starvation, massacre, unethical human experimentation, and slavery, and are subjected to the war crime tribunals after the war.
- The Yami Musume is one of the few factions that only has some factional theme songs with lyrics in their respective languages, the other ones are the CCS and Josei Guntai. Like Josei Guntai, some of these theme songs have Japanese lyrics along with female screams.
