The Kyoudai Gundan, also known as the Kyoudai Kankei, is one of the bonus factions in Artistic Forces.

Name

The name Kyoudai Gundan (hiragana: きょうだいぐんだん, kanji: 兄弟軍団, furigana: 兄きょう弟だい軍ぐん団だん) possibly translates to the "Brother Corps", "Brother Legion", or "Brother Army" in Japanese. Etymologically, while Gundan commonly means "corps" or "army", the Japanese term Kyoudai also applies to female siblings or sisters. However, this is contrary to another Japanese term for "sister": Shimai, which is used for a title of the all-female Josei Guntai under the alias called the Shimai Kankei, and not to be confused with another Japanese word for giant: Kyodai (kanji: 巨大). So this faction is a gender-swapped counterpart of Josei Guntai in an etymological sense. Kyoudai is followed by another Japanese term for "Army" or "Corps": Gundan, which considerably fits for this faction's military as it has ground, naval, and air forces that are modeled after those of Japan Self-Defense Forces, the real-life military forces that influenced both the Rising Sun Self-Defense Force and the Josei Guntai. As a result, both of these Japanese terms possibly fit the inspirations for this faction, most especially the Frateris Templar from Warhammer 40k, Touken Danshi from Touken Ranbu, and of course the Japanese youth culture.

  • Like the Josei Guntai, which is influenced by the Sisters of Battle (aka the "Sisterhood" or Adepta Sororitas) from Warhammer 40k as an all-female faction, Mahou Shoujo (Magical Girl) genre in popular culture, the Japan Self-Defense Forces, Kanmusu from Kantai Collection, and Japanese youth culture, the Kyoudai Gundan is heavily inspired by Frateris Templar from Warhammer 40k, Japan Self-Defense Forces, Touken Danshi from Touken Ranbu, and even the Japanese youth culture.
