Strategy[]
The Dwarvenomes are a fierce and subversive faction composed of dwarves, gnomes, and half-breeds, drawing inspiration from Norse and Germanic mythologies as well as classic fantasy works like The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. They combine a mix of traditional craftsmanship, rune magic, and advanced technology, creating a highly defensive and offensive faction. Their military assets are often based on Swedish-designed weapons, vehicles, aircraft, and vessels. The Dwarvenomes rely heavily on underground warfare, artillery superiority, and defensive tactics, using their mastery of runic power to enhance their weapons and fortifications.
The Dwarvenomes are a versatile faction with a focus on defense, artillery, and subversion. Their ability to manipulate both magic and technology gives them a unique edge in battle, allowing them to hold the line against overwhelming forces while simultaneously striking with powerful, rune-infused weaponry. Their underground tactics and mastery of siege warfare make them a formidable foe on both offense and defense, relying on a combination of brute force, magic, and cunning to dominate their enemies.
Tactics[]
Hold-the-Line Tactics[]
The Dwarvenomes are known for their defensive posture, relying on strong, fortified positions to repel enemies. They often use underground tunnels to move their forces and maintain secrecy, setting up complex defenses and laying traps for invaders.
Artillery Supremacy[]
Artillery plays a central role in their strategy. The Dwarvenomes excel in siege warfare, using heavy artillery and long-range bombardments to weaken enemies before engaging in close combat. They use technologically advanced artillery systems powered by rune energy for enhanced destructive power.
Rune Magic and Rune Technology[]
The Dwarvenomes wield the power of runes, which they inscribe onto various objects, including weapons and equipment, to cast spells and imbue their units with enhanced abilities. Rune magic allows them to manipulate the battlefield by buffing friendly units or hindering enemy movements. The Rune Engine, a crucial piece of their technological advancement, harnesses magical energy to power advanced machinery and weapons, granting the Dwarvenomes access to higher-level technology.
Subterranean Warfare[]
In addition to traditional combat, the Dwarvenomes have mastered underground warfare. Their mining and tunneling capabilities allow them to infiltrate enemy territory, sabotage structures, and create sinkholes to undermine enemy defenses. This tactical advantage makes them unpredictable and difficult to detect.
Technological level[]
Technological Evolution Through Runes[]
The Dwarvenomes are an ancient faction with a technological level that spans both traditional and magical realms. While their technological foundation is based on conventional designs, their use of rune-based technology elevates them to a more advanced level. Rune-powered engines and weapons allow them to build more powerful artillery and vehicles, while rune magic enhances their combat capabilities.
Advanced Artillery and Siege Weapons[]
The Dwarvenomes' arsenal includes advanced siege weaponry such as magical cannons, rune-forged armor, and siege engines capable of massive destruction. These weapons are powered by runic energy, making them far more effective than standard artillery.
Rune-enhanced Units[]
The Dwarvenomes can upgrade their units with rune-forged armor, increasing their durability and effectiveness in battle. The use of runes also provides tactical advantages, such as faster construction of fortifications and the ability to manipulate the environment.
Sub-factions[]
The Dwarvenomes have only two sub-factions: the subversive branch of the Subterranean Wreckers, and the ferocious Old Guards.
Subterranean Wreckers[]
The Subterranean Wreckers use the Dwarves' unparalleled mining skills, combined with the Gnome's more magical gadgets, to infiltrate and undermine their foes, striking anywhere and swiftly retreating through a complex network of tunnels, creating massive sinkholes that cause their enemy to be swallowed up by the earth.
Old Guards[]
A blacksmith guild focusing more on creating enchanted weaponry and devices, and shunning the "cowardly" firearms wielded by other military, the Old Guards still takes the tried and true ways of close-quarter combat, supported by archers and crossbowmen, and the use of siege engines like the ballista, and powerful rune magic that lets them change the battlefield with a single swing of their hammers, while at the same time banning the use of firearms, save for Napoleonic-era cannons, seeing them as both a coward's weapon and being untested compared older, reliable, devices.
